Value of a half run in 1st 5 MLB Total
Does anyone have a good idea on the value cents wise for a half run on an MLB Total?

Different totals do push with different frequencies so it's not just the same for every number, obviously.

Here's a link to SBR's half point calculator. I don't think it's quite up to date, but I suppose it can give you the idea you are looking for...

It seems like I have some push rates slightly above and some slightly below what the calculator offers, it just depends on the the Total input.

I don't use this calculator, your post got me searching for it, and then I started checking push rates. If I remember, the NBA calculator was off a little as well.

I think it can still be somewhat useful.

I am familiar with the calculator. Didnt want to go the route of actually figuring it out myself. Lame.

You know, when I was posting I started thinking "this guy probably knows how to use total push rates", I completely glossed over the first five innings.

When we don't have a database, and since push rates are fluid and even different between cappers, there is a way to figure out which push rate a book, preferably a "sharper" book is using.

We need options and prices from pull down menus and then it can be calculated. One advantage is that the book will likely have already calculated spread factors in the total prices.

I have to step away, but I'll get the calculations out either in the thread or PM. Some houses give a pull down menu on 1st five totals, but there aren't too many options.

It's common in NFL but I actually wanted to work on this for MLB, so I'll jump in Excel as soon as I can and see if we have something we can work with.

If you have a book that has pull-down options on buying .5 like pinny or 5 dimes (used to anyway), there is your answer. Buying .5 on a 5 total is cheaper than off a total of 3.

That is arguably the dumbest post I've ever seen

              No Stevie, read my post.

It won't tell you what THE push rates are, it will tell you what push rates that book is using at that time.

It isn't just outright there, there is a formula, I have it in excel, that is useful. The trick is getting those pull down menus on first 5 from a relatively "sharp" book.

Like I said, I'll lay it down and we can see if it's useful for MLB 1st fives when I get more time. Still looking for Russian babes for the WW3 thread...lol.

I have it in a spreadsheet, I'll get it out when I can.

But first, a Friday afternoon martial arts workout with my son, we're both learning.

In Pinny Asian view you see prices side by side. For example,
                  NY Mets - Miami 3.5 -117/+103, 4 +111/-128, 4.5 +146/-169
                  San Diego - San Francisco, 4 -167/+139, 4.5 -121/+105, 5 +107/-130.
                  Milwaukee - Chicago Cubs 4.5 -129/+109, 5 +101/-116, 5.5 +125/-145.
                  Arizona - Cleveland 5 -135/+112, 5.5 +100/-114, 6 +127/-154
Today no game has lower total, but I seem to remember they do not post line on 2.5 runs.

Can someone explain on the calculator how the push rates are calculated?
