it's a serious question, isn't that why there is always more money on the favorites, or most of the time there is? rather bet underdogs, but if you get better odds on favorites then maybe I should think about that too.

It used to be before the internet explosion that the UNDERDOGS almost always had the best value (ah, the good old days!).

Now, as the information has become more easily available and bettors have become more sophisticated, you really can't benefit by betting either all favorites or all underdogs.

normally the fav is over valued by joe square and the books take advantage of this by making jaded lines costing joe square points and/or juice.

if you can find value in a fav then play it, but most of the time youre going to get "better odds" playing the dog.

There are select cases where favorites are underpriced. A lot of times, you'll see the underdog in a baseball match be a -150 to -200 favorite on the runline. In many cases, there is value betting these.

There aren't any runlines up now, so would that be anywhere from .5,1,1.5,2,2.5,3,3.5... runs added to the underdog? -150/-200 would be when they don't want to move it down half-run?

If you want to get a fair price on a dog runline (e.g. +150 on the moneyline, -150 on the +1.5 runline), just look at about 10000 games - it won't take that many years.

Be sure to include totals in your conversion chart. There's a HUGE difference in the +1.5 runline on a -200 favorite with a total of 7.5 versus 11.5.

Following on from what Justin said about runlines, the same applies to puck lines.

Can you suggest how I get the data? Is the run line always 1.5? thanks

Pay someone for a database, or hire a programmers to download it wherever you can find odds.
