Can you post a link, or be more specific, doubt anyone will know it off the top of their head.

There doesn't appear to be any easy way to discern the game id using the date, teams involved, previous id, etc. You'll have to scrape these values from some other page.

          here is an example page

Box score for the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls NBA game from November 8, 2012 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

that is for game on november 8th 2012, so lets say i want a game in 2011 it would make sense to lower the number... if i change the 4 or a 2 to a 1 i get a blank page, so would be helpful to know how they use those gameIDs

for baseball, its '32' plus 'mmdd' plus '1' '2' or '3' (no double header, game 1 of DH, game 2 of DH) plus hometeamid

                  '32' equals 2012, '31' for 2011, and so on
team ids are below. i assume other sports are the same

Grab the boxscore links from the daily scoreboard... http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/scoreboard?date=20121114. The date is at the end after the equal sign... just increment the date to grab the whole season.

espn is generally not a very good source for boxscore data for baseball(check out retrosheet or fangraphs)... i only know about the boxscores because i wrote a script to download the latest scores (used to auto grade bets)
