    Rickie Fowler (+7000 via Caesars)

"Following Jason Day's triumphant victory in the AT&T Byron Nelson, which ended his five-year winless drought on the PGA Tour and significantly improved his chances in the PGA Championship, Rickie Fowler aims to achieve a similar feat. Fowler seeks to mark a resurgent start to the 2022-23 PGA Tour season by securing a victory, thus ending his four-year dry spell.

Although Fowler missed out on invitations to several major tournaments in recent years, he has consistently participated in the PGA Championship. Last year, he finished in a commendable T-23 position, preceded by a T-8 finish in 2021.

Currently ranked No. 49 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), Fowler has made significant progress since September when he held the 185th spot. Over the course of 14 events, he has accumulated four top-10 finishes and missed only one cut during this period.

Fowler has regained his exceptional putting skills from his earlier years, evident in his average of 0.98 true strokes gained: approach and 1.20 SG: tee-to-green per round across his last 32 measured rounds. Having tied for 19th place at Oak Hill CC in 2013, he possesses a modest advantage in terms of experience compared to much of the PGA Championship field.

Alternate bet: Top-10 finish (+500 via DraftKings)"

    Talor Gooch (+8000 via FanDuel)

"Like most, I don't want much to do with those returning from the LIV Golf Invitational Series this week. Despite the performances of Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson in the Masters, the ability of those who defected for the rival tour to compete in a 72-hole even remains in question.

However, Gooch is in the best form of anyone from the rebel tour. He won back-to-back events in Australia and Singapore before a lackluster T-36 finish in last week's LIV Golf Invitational: Tulsa. Gooch also tied for 20th in last year's PGA Championship before his unanticipated departure for the LIV Series. He returned for a T-34 finish at Augusta National in April.

We don't have any accurate stat information from LIV Golf but the RangeGoats GC standout is in excellent form and was an up-and-comer on the PGA Tour before his departure. He's a quality bet at this +9000 number from FanDuel with PGA Championship long-shot odds as low as +6500 via DraftKings.

Alternate bet: Top LIV player (+1000 via BetMGM)"

    Keegan Bradley (+12500 via PointsBet)

"Bradley, a native of Vermont but graduate of St. John's University will have somewhat of a home-course advantage this week, and he matched Fowler (and Hideki Matsuyama) with a T-19 finish at Oak Hill in 2013.

Also similarly to Fowler, Bradley has worked his way back up to No. 22 in the world rankings. Once ranked as high as No. 10, he had fallen as low as No. 91 early in 2022 before working his way back into form. That resurgence was highlighted by a win at the Zozo Championship in the fall, but Bradley was also the runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open and tied for 10th in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Bradley's second career PGA Tour win was the 2011 PGA Championship, where he won in a playoff over Dufner at Atlanta Athletic Club.

Bradley is gaining strokes in all key areas across his last 31 measured rounds, including 1.15 SG: tee-to-green per round.

Alternate bet: Tournament group vs. Theegala, Reed, Scott, Lowry (+350 via DraftKings)"

    PGA Championship Best Bets

Rory McIlroy to win (+1400 via DraftKings)

"What makes golf different (and more enjoyable to bet) than the Big Six team sports in North America is that we can keep going back to the well with a popular pick despite a poor recent run because the odds have increased. In the case of McIlroy's odds, the prices have increased to the point where it would be malpractice to not bet on him for a third career Wanamaker Trophy with our PGA Championship outright picks.

McIlroy is third on the consensus oddsboard at our best sports betting apps and is available with odds as high as +1400 via DraftKings and PointsBet. However, we're going to side strongly with DraftKings because its one-time +300 odds surge on any outright pick brings McIlroy's odds up to +1700. That moves his odds above those of Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, who have logged a combined zero major wins.

Yes, McIlroy completely flamed out with a missed cut during The Players Championship and in the Masters as the betting favorite. And he finished just T-47 in the Wells Fargo Championship. However, the No. 3 golfer in the OWGR won the 2022 Tour Championship, with two other international victories since.

Like the Tour Championship, the 2023 PGA Championship will be played at a course that famed golf architect Donald Ross originally designed. That suited McIlroy well with his T-8 finish at Oak Hill CC in 2013.

McIlroy won't face the same pressures at Oak Hill that he regularly deals with at Augusta National, where he seeks the career grand slam. He's also taken a longer-than-usual break from competitive golf during the leadup to this event and should be well-prepped."

Tony Finau to win (+2500 via PointsBet)

"Finau enters the 2023 PGA Championship off a win in the Mexico Open at Vidanta, where he did the impossible and held off Rahm, and a T-23 finish the following week in the elevated Wells Fargo Championship. Those results extended his streak to 14 straight made cuts dating back to last fall when he won the Houston Open.

With four victories within the last 365 days, Finau is back up to No. 12 in the OWGR entering the week. While he produced a lackluster tie for 30th in last year's PGA Championship, he tied for eighth in 2021 and for fourth in 2020. He's registered 10 career top-10 finishes across 27 major appearances.

Statistically, Finau ranks third among qualified golfers with 1.27 strokes gained: approach across his last 24 measured rounds. His 2.22 SG: total ranks fifth, and he grades positively in both distance and accuracy off the tee. Finau is also 11th in bogey avoidance, 23rd in proximity from 200-plus yards, and 33rd in scrambling percentage for the 2022-23 PGA Tour season."

Cameron Young to win (+3500 via DraftKings)

"We've been tracking Young's PGA Championship odds closely for the better part of a year, with Oak Hill CC located just upstate of his hometown of Scarborough, NY.

The reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and current 15th-ranked golfer in the world hasn't yet been able to recapture his 2022 form. However, he notched a runner-up finish in the Asian Tour's PIF Saudi International against a field that included many of the top names from the LIV Golf Series. He also tied for 10th in an elevated field during the Arnold Palmer Invitational, was the runner-up to Sam Burns in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, and tied for seventh in the Masters.

Young has gained strokes in all key areas across his last 24 measured rounds, and he ranks second to McIlroy in distance off the tee during that time while being more accurate than the Northern Irishman.

Young's outright odds are as low as +3000 via Caesars, so we're getting a good bargain through DraftKings for Young's first PGA Tour win."

    Finishing Position Picks

Top 5: Xander Schauffele (+360 via DraftKings)

"Still without a major win on his resume, Schauffele ended a three-year winless drought with two individual victories last summer. He hasn't finished worse than T-15 in his last four major championship appearances and will look to improve on his T-10 result at the Masters while playing a course well-suited for his elite iron play."

Top 40: Tom Hoge (+250 via FanDuel)

"A lackluster T-43 finish last week is an improvement on back-to-back missed cuts in early April. Ranked 30th in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) we're getting excellent value in these +250 odds for a top-40 finish following Hoge's T-9 result in the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills."

    Matchup Picks

Dustin Johnson (-102 via FanDuel) vs Jason Day

"Johnson's coming off victory in the LIV Golf Invitational: Tulsa event while Day ended his lengthy PGA Tour winless drought with victory in the AT&T Byron Nelson. Though Johnson has struggled more in the PGA Championship than any other major for his career, he has played more consistent major golf than Day in recent years so I'm backing him in the battle of former world No. 1s."

Adam Svensson (-110 via DraftKings) vs Brendon Todd

"Todd has had the hotter putter of late but I'm trusting Svensson's superior distance off the tee and approach game. Svensson also enters the week at No. 58 in the OWGR to Todd's rank of 69th and should be given at least a slight edge in this tournament head-to-head."

    To Make/Miss Cut Picks

To make the cut: Abraham Ancer (-118 via FanDuel)

"One of the forgotten defectors to the LIV Golf Invitational Series, Ancer claimed victory in the Asian Tour's PIF Saudi International against a quality field that included PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Cameron Young in early February. Ancer also finished in the top 10 of each of the last two editions of the PGA Championship."

To miss the cut: Lucas Herbert (-108 via FanDuel)

"Though Herbert is coming off a victory in the DP World Tour's ISPS Handa Championship, that was in late April. I'm not trusting his extended break from competitive golf coming into a major, especially after he missed the cut in two of 2022's four major championships, and the 2023 Players Championship."

    Prop Picks

Top LIV Player: Talor Gooch (+1000 via BetMGM)

"In what has become one of my favorite 2023 PGA Championship picks, I'm quite confident in Gooch having the best finish among those returning from the LIV circuit. Though he doesn't have the major pedigree of Johnson, Brooks Koepka, or Phil Mickelson, he had a T-5 finish in the 2021 Players Championship and won back-to-back LIV events this spring."

Top Asian: Tom Kim (+500 via FanDuel)

"I was rather impressed by Kim's final 54 holes of the AT&T Byron Nelson, in which he finished his second round one stroke above the cut line and shot a final round of 6-under par while gaining 0.50 strokes on approach per round for the tournament. The two-time PGA Tour champ is due for some positive regression on the putting surfaces, and I'm comfortable leaning on his approach and short games."

    First-Round Leader Picks

    Viktor Hovland (+4000 via DraftKings)

"Hovland had a share of the first-round lead in the Masters before finishing in a tie for seventh. The logic in this first-round leader pick is that Hovland's elite iron play can keep him in major contention until the greens firm up for the weekend and he's forced to rely more heavily on his weaker short game. It doesn't hurt that Hovland is second on the PGA Tour in Round 1 scoring average this season and Neil Parker is backing him in his PGA Championship power rankings."

    Keegan Bradley (+8000 via BetMGM)

"One of my PGA Championship sleeper picks, Bradley has lower odds to lead the field after the first 18 holes. The St. John's University grad won the 2011 PGA Championship in the first major appearance of his pro career, and he tied for 19th at Oak Hill Country Club in 2013."
