    DeMarco Murray
Bust? The next great Cowboys RB?

I saw some highlights of him at Oklahoma when he was reportedly getting hurt a lot and he seemed to be a LOT thinner. Almost looked like a WR running around out there. I'm not a big College Football guy but I read that nobody could stay within 3 TDs of OK when he was healthy. True? False?

Anyways, he's certainly put on a lot of bulk (but not too much). Has that rare size/speed combo that very few possess.

I also looked at his highlights from last year and saw the injury that ended his season last year. You can scroll to about 4:20

71 got his arm in front of Murrays legs to hold him back and then dove into his rolling ankle. With all the bounty info coming out of the NFL over the last few months it kind of makes you wonder...Giants/Cowboys in the same division+late in the season+Murray having 5.5ypc...Doesn't seem like a situation that many would have been able to avoid. If a guy wants to do that to you, you really can't do much. I wouldn't label him injury prone because of that although he did have his injuries at Oklahoma, but has since bulked up considerably.

People say the O-Line is banged up, but its better than what he worked with last year. And they upgraded their Corners. All-around better defense. Dez Bryant to take the top off a defense.

    Thoughts?

I think most people would probably agree, bottom line is he has to stay healthy and stay on the field. He was best player available in a draft I was in the other night and I needed a RB, I just cringed as I selected him.

Maybe it will work out, maybe not...health is certainly main issue here, not talent. IMHO, if he stays healthy, should be very good RB in NFL....I also don't think he'll stay healthy on a regular basis to play at least 13 games a year. I would imagine he will end up having a solid career that will always be left w/ a, "what if..."

I've heard people say it might be due to his upright running style but I see his dish out the punishment sometimes. At least a lot more now than I saw in his college highlights where he appeared 15-20 pounds lighter.

With Murray, I think it simply comes down to whether he can stay healthy. If he stays healthy, he will finish as a RB1. He is a 3 down back who can run, catch, and block. He'll get 20+ touches a game, and have plenty of chances of getting in teh endzone on a good Cowboys offense.

After Arian, Shady Rice, and DMC, I think I have DeMarco next on my list. I did have Lynch ahead of DeMarco, but with the news of Lynch's spasms, I've moved Murray ahead of him.

he is an average running back

RB's are a dime a dozen pal and they always get hurt

If you do take him in the 2nd or 3rd round, make sure to keep an eye on Felix Jones. Maybe draft him one of the last few rounds.

Zeta-I understand the RBs are a dime a dozen mentality but there are very few RBs in this day and age that have the opportunity to get the lions share of the carries and even fewer with great talent within them. Other top RBs like Forte, Rice, McCoy, McFadden are all nice but none of them have the size and power combined with the speed Murray has. There are very few with that special skillset. Adrian Petersons are not a dime a dozen.

Convick-The thing about Felix is hes shown that he can't carry the load, so if a backup RB ends up on the roster- why not have a guy who can like Turbin or Tate?

I guess what it comes down to is whether you think his added bulk since college serves him well and whether or not that ankle injury in the Giants game was a dirty tackle and circumstance that no player would make it out of without a fractured ankle.

Murray with a little payback taking their MLB out tonight.

                                    17 for 131 and 2 for 10 not a bad start.

Cowboys blew three double digit leads last year in games without Murray which ultimately dropped them from 11-5 to 8-8. Having this guy to close out games after Romo airs it out to Austin, Bryant, Witten, *Ogletree could be the difference. That and their two new LBs and CBs to keep the score down on the other side. We've got the perfect recipe we're looking at here.

Really happy with what I saw out of Murray tonight. I was able to get him in the 2nd round to pair with Run DMC as my first round pick. He runs with some power, reminds me a little of AP. Obviously no where near AP's level, but similar to his style.

I am a bit worried about his matchup against the Seahawks in wk2. Seahawks are pretty stingy against the run, especially when they are at home.

Why did he cut in towards the middle of the field on that 48 yard run? Just watched the replay a few times and it looks like he could have easily had the TD if he just ran down the sideline. DeMarco.....
