ESPN's John Clayton and multiple NFL Network reports have stated that Rams WR Steve Smith is on a "verge of rebirth" in St. Louis.
Multiple reports have been positive about Steve Smith and that he has "come on strong" over the final two weeks of training camp practices. Coming back after 2 years removed with a complex microfracture procedure on his knee, Smith has been the early-camp "surprise" for the Rams, showing "more speed than anticipated."
Smith has been moved back outside and has a shot at taking the No.1 WR job. With the pecking order Steve Smith,Brian Quick, Chris Givens, Danario Alexander and Danny Amendola will have to wait until pre-season games to see who falls into position but as of now its looking like Smith, Quick outside with Amendola in the slot. Smith caught 107receptions for 1,220 yards and 7TDs in 15 starts back in 2009 but has just 59receptions for 653 yards and 4TDs in (18 total games) since because of his knee. Smith is to be viewed as a low-end No.4 Fantasy WR and possibly a Week 1 Waiver Wire pick up but has the potential to see alot of targets on a receiver weak Rams team if he can stay healthy.
