Top performers the past week owned in less than 75 percent of leagues . Stock Watch!
    1. Carlos Gomez, OF, Milwaukee Brewers
Owned in 2.1 percent of leagues, Gomez's time on the field for the Brewers has been relatively inconsistent this season. His speed is probably his greatest fantasy asset and he's showing off the wheels this month with nine steals and 10 runs scored.

    2. Paul Maholm, SP, Chicago Cubs
Maholm has been one of the few bright spots for the Cubs the past month with five wins in his previous six starts. The 30-year-old lefty hasn't given up more than one run in a start since June 23 and is available in 89 percent of ESPN fantasy baseball leagues.

    3. Lorenzo Cain, OF, Kansas City Royals
We've discussed Cain's rise to fantasy relevance in depth to the right, but what you need to know here is that in the past seven days, Cain has hit .346 with nine RBIs and two home runs. Expect Cain to be a valuable resource to fantasy teams from here on out.

    4. Danny Espinosa, 2B, Washington Nationals
The 25-year-old Espinosa has hit safely in his past 10 games and is one of the most-added players the past week in fantasy baseball as a result. Espinosa ranks 11th at his position this season, and those owners looking for runs and steals might want to give him a look.

    5. J.P. Arencibia, C, Toronto Blue Jays
It's been a pretty good week for Arencibia, who has gone deep in his past three games. His batting average isn't the most desirable (.242), but he's tied for second at his position for most home runs (16), and fantasy owners enjoy getting that sort of productivity from their catcher.

Lorenzo Cain, OF, Kansas City Royals
Fantasy owners were high on Cain at the start of the season, but all the hype stopped instantly after Cain landed on the disabled list with an injured groin. While recovering from that injury, a hip flexor problem delayed his return further. Nobody knew what to expect as Cain re-joined the Royals after the All-Star break, but he's been on fire since his return. Cain's .390 average, three home runs, 13 RBIs and seven runs scored has intrigued fantasy owners once again as he's been added to 32.8 percent of leagues over the past seven days.

    Tyler Colvin, OF, Colorado Rockies

Colvin has been dropped by 43.6 percent of ESPN fantasy owners over the past seven days. The everyday outfielder crushed the ball in June, hitting .339 with a 1.105 OPS. July has been a different story as far as his average, .226, but the power has remained with five home runs. The thing to remember here is that the Rockies have played 13 of their last 20 games on the road and Colvin hits nearly 30 points higher at home. It's understandable for owners to look elsewhere for the hot bat, but this outfielder remains a reliable fantasy asset when playing in Colorado.

On Mets starting pitcher R.A. Dickey …
"Here's what was different in his past four starts. First of all, his location has suffered. Over the first 14 starts, Dickey located just 35 percent of his total pitches in the upper third of the zone. In the last four? That number has ballooned to 51 percent of pitches."

On the Baltimore Orioles' prospects …
"Right-hander Bridwell entered the year as the big kid with upside who throws hard, and he has a 6.30 ERA. Esposito is a second-round pick out of Vanderbilt who should dominate at this level, and he's hitting .225/.281/.297. Delmonico … is hitting .249/.344/.396 while looking like a first-base only type. That's three potential trade pieces off the table, and without finding prospects around studs like Bundy and shortstop Manny Machado, it leaves the Orioles in a bind when it comes to making a major move."

      Trade Rumors

Rangers and Dodger are pursuing james shields
The Angels aren’t the only team in pursuit of James Shields. The Rangers and Dodgers have also made the Rays trade offers for the right-hander, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports.

The Rays are saying they’d move any pitcher except David Price and Matt Moore, but Shields is the most likely one to be traded, Knobler tweets. The Angels have discussed a package that includes center fielder Peter Bourjos and catcher Hank Conger.

Shields earns $7MM in 2012 and his contract includes club options for 2013 ($9MM with a $1.5MM buyout) and 2014 ($12MM with a $1MM buyout). Shields, the third-place finisher in last year's AL Cy Young voting, has completed at least 200 innings in every one of his five full seasons. The 30-year-old has a 4.39 ERA with 8.5 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 in 131 1/3 innings so far in 2012.

      Zack Greinke Rumors: Thursday

The Brewers are looking to sell and, based on his most recent start, Zack Greinke is healthy. The right-hander figures to continue drawing heavy interest in the days leading up to the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline. He’s clearly the top arm available with Cole Hamels locked up to an extension in Philadelphia. The Rangers, Angels, Braves and White Sox are interested in Greinke and the Red Sox and Nationals might be considered suitors too. Here are the latest rumors surrounding the Greinke with the most recent rumors up top...
