#741The former 30-goal scorer's numbers dropped off with the emergence of the Ducks' younger players. That should pick up in Pittsburgh if he plays with Evgeni Malkin. Ducks GM Pat Verbeek ended up trading four of his unrestricted free agents. The Ducks will get forwards Zach Aston-Reese and Dominik Simon, goaltender Calle Clang and a 2022 second-round draft pick for Rakell.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#744Doughty could be out rest of regular season for Kings with injury
Defenseman last played March 7, has scored 31 points in 39 games
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Drew Doughty could be out for the rest of the regular season, Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake said Monday.
The defenseman hasn't played since March 7 because of an upper-body injury.
"It's a little early to say," Blake said. "I think we'll exhaust every option possible. I mean, he's out there skating now but not participating in drills and things. That'll be an assessment with the doctor in the next few days to understand the next step to see if he can come back and play."

#748Dadonov trade to Ducks by Golden Knights invalidated by NHL
Forward's limited no-trade clause was not complied with, League says
Evgenii Dadonov's trade to the Anaheim Ducks by the Vegas Golden Knights was invalidated by the NHL on Wednesday, two days after it was completed.
The NHL said in a statement the trade could not be concluded because Dadonov's contract included a limited no-trade clause that had not been complied with.
"We respect and accept the decision made today by the NHL with regard to our trade with Vegas on Monday," Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said. "Evgenii Dadonov is a player we thought could help our team this year and beyond."
Dadonov signed a three-year, $15 million contract ($5 million average annual value) with the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 15, 2020, a deal which included the limited no-trade clause.
He was traded to the Golden Knights by the Senators for defenseman Nick Holden and a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft on July 28, 2021. Dadonov can become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
Dadonov has scored 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 62 games this season. He is tied for third on the Golden Knights in goals with forwards Max Pacioretty and Chandler Stephenson.
"The Vegas Golden Knights recognize the league's decision and welcome Evgenii back to our club," Vegas said on Twitter.
Vegas had received defenseman John Moore, forward Ryan Kesler and a conditional second-round pick in the 2023 or 2024 NHL Draft in the trade for Dadonov.
"We will move forward and welcome John Moore to our organization once he's healthy and ready to return," Verbeek said.
Selected by the Florida Panthers in the third round (No. 71) of the 2007 NHL Draft, Dadonov has scored 249 points (119 goals, 130 assists) in 397 regular-season games with the Panthers, Senators and Golden Knights. He has one assist in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.

#752Speaking of Canucks, I have a feeling they get another surprise win in Minnesota tonight, even though the back-to-back doesn't help them. Canucks are 6-2 in their last 8 meetings in Minnesota...... I do like what the Wild team has going towards the playoffs.... so maybe this hunch about tonight is wrong. But another wildcard (pun intended Wild) is coach Boudreau who was with the Wild prior to Vancouver.
As for another coaching motivation potential angle for tonight, Vegas coach Pete DeBoer home game for career game 1000 as a Head Coach tonight as they host the Predators.Comment -

#756Clutterbuck out for season for Islanders, will have shoulder surgery
Forward agreed to two-year contract Monday; defenseman Mayfield sidelined 4-6 Cal Clutterbuck is out the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, and Scott Mayfield is out 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury for the New York Islanders.
"They're very important," Islanders coach Barry Trotz said Thursday. "This is the National Hockey League; there's guys that are going to go down, it's got to be the next-man-up mentality. It's opportunities for other guys. But they're both big pieces in our room, both big pieces especially on the penalty kill and in late-game situations, defensive situations. Those are as good as we have."
Clutterbuck needs to have surgery. He scored 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 59 games and led Islanders forwards in shorthanded ice time per game (2:00). He hadn't played since March 19.
The 34-year-old agreed to a two-year contract Monday. He could have become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
"They're key players for us," New York forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau said. "They're both players that bring a physical aspect [to] our game, which is in our game plan every night. They're two leaders, not only on the ice but off the ice, so we're going to need to find a way to get going before games for sure."
Mayfield, a defenseman, was injured blocking a shot in the final minute of a 3-0 win against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. He scored a goal and had an assist in the game.
The 29-year-old scored 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 61 games. He was tied with defenseman Adam Pelech for the Islanders lead in shorthanded ice time per game (2:18).
"It's never fun, obviously," Pageau said. "I don't think [Mayfield] knew until after the game. Obviously, when you block a shot, it can go either way. He scores a big goal for us, I think he felt good. X-rays showed something different. It's tough on the mind of the player, tough on teammates. I never want to see a guy go down. We're going to have to hope that it's going to be a quick recovery. He's going to miss us for sure. He's a big part of this group."
The Islanders (28-25-9) are scheduled to end the regular season against the Tampa Bay Lightning on April 29, about five weeks from now.
"Other guys are going to have to develop their game to hopefully [be] better in some of those areas and take on those minutes," Trotz said. "It's going to be some guys that haven't gotten those minutes, this is a real good opportunity for them."
