Injuries are treated a bit differently with players champing at the bit to be out there in the playoffs so we'll see how this progresses this week.

PIT - WR Antonio Brown could receive extension
Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra
The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to work out a long-term deal this offseason with WR Antonio Brown, who is under contract through 2017.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown may be the best wide receiver in Steelers history. Think about that given the names that have caught passes with Hall of Fame results for Pittsburgh. Getting Brown an extension is a no brainer.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker has solid game
Source: NFL.com
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker caught four passes for 55 yards in the Wild Card playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A first-round pick in 2015, Parker built off what he flashed during his rookie season. He finished 2016 with 56 catches, 744 receiving yards and four touchdowns. As head coach Adam Gase continues to build that team, Parker should see his role continue to increase. We'll see if he can take another step forward in 2017.

ATL - TE Jacob Tamme to be UFA
Source: Spotrac.com
Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Turning 32 years old in March, Tamme is clearly not the player he used to be. However, he can still be an effective player when healthy and given a certain role. His work ethic and ability to be a QB's best friend should land him a job somewhere in 2017. When Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan lands a head coaching job, watch to see if Tamme would follow him.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson to be free agent
Source: Spotrac.com
Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson is 31 years old and has only played in 15 games over the last two years. This season was cut short by sports hernia surgery. The speedy veteran did flash when given the ball with the Cardinals, and any team in need of a part-time playmaker should have interest.

ARI - TE Jermaine Gresham to be UFA
Source: Spotrac.com
Arizona Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Gresham was used a lot more for the Cardinals than he was in 2015. He caught 37 passes for 391 yards but only scored two touchdowns. Gresham isn't a good blocker, but he's a big-bodied receiver who can help move the chains. No matter where he goes in 2017, we can't imagine Gresham being a fantasy factor.

BUF - Buffalo to talk with Kris Richard Sunday
Source: FOXSports.com - Peter Schrager
Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard will interview for the Buffalo Bills head coaching position Sunday, Jan. 8.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Richard played for Pete Carroll in college at USC, he then went to the NFL to play for a few years and then went back to USC to coach under Carroll. When Carroll left for Seattle, Richard followed him and now is getting interest as a head coach. A two-year defensive coordinator with Seattle (after working as a DB coach), Richard's interest makes sense with the production of the Seahawks defense.

HOU - No setbacks for RB Lamar Miller
Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson
Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) said his ankle felt good during the Wild Card playing game and did not have any setbacks.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Go news for the Texans here. Miller should once again be the focal point of the Houston offense as they travel to play the Patriots in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

CIN - WR Brandon LaFell to have thumb surgery
Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Paul Dehner Jr. and Jim Owczarski
Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell (thumb) will undergo surgery this offseason to repair a ligament in his thumb, but it should not affect his availability for next season.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
LaFell is set to be a free agent in March. This surgery shouldn't keep interested teams away from the veteran, but we can't imagine the market being white hot for his services. Instead, a return to the Bengals may be likely. LaFell had 64 catches for 862 yards and six touchdowns in his first year with the Bengals in 2016.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger in walking boot
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) said he expects to play in the Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs next week even though he suffered an ankle injury in the Wild Card playoff game. Roethlisberger was in a walking boot after the game against the Miami Dolphins.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It wouldn't be a playoff game without Roethlisberger playing through some sort of injury...ankle, shoulder, broken nose....whatever it is he's going to keep fighting. He'll be limited during the week of practice.

DEN - Denver to interview Vance Joseph
Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala
The Denver Broncos are scheduled to interview Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph for their head coaching vacancy this week.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Joseph may be the frontrunner for the Broncos job. He's known as a charismatic leader in the mold of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. Joseph played his college ball in Colorado at CU and he's close with Broncos college scouting director Matt Russell. The Broncos have already interviewed Dave Toub (Chiefs special teams coach) and Kyle Shanahan (Falcons offensive coordinator) for the job, but will wait to make a decision until Joseph interviews.

NYJ - QB Geno Smith unlikely to return
Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini
New York Jets QB Geno Smith (knee) is unlikely to be back with the club in 2017, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprises here. The Jets have a mess at quarterback, and don't be surprised if they go back to the well in the 2017 NFL draft to find a passer. Smith is recovering from ACL surgery performed last November, and the team is expected to try and resolve the quarterback position during the spring, long before Smith is fully recovered.
