Seems to me a league of chiefs and Indians. A lot of the cars are the Washington Generals. Don't really see how these cars can be so consistently in the back of the pack or that there is that much difference in driver talent. But I have never watched a single lap of NASCAR so don't know the first thing about it. Seems a guy like David Ragan or Cole Whitt could perform pretty well in a top car.

Bubba is the #1 full time Xfin driver affiliated with the #43 team right now. So it is a normal choice. I don't think anyone thinks that he has done enough to earn a Cup ride as yet but as a fill in for an affiliated team with an injured driver, there would probably be more questions inside the team about why he didn't get the chance than there are about why he did get it.

Stenhouse's improvement and Bubba's slow careeer success are kind of interlinked. Stenhouse won the Xfin series when Roush had among the best cars. By the time he moved to Cup and Bubba took over his ride in Xfin, Roush were skating downhill fast into a mid pack team.

Both of them look better this year as Roush, and all the Ford teams in bother series, are finally on the comeback.

Wind tunnel calibration issues is what started the Roush decline years ago. Money to spend on windtunnels at all, let alone have enough use time to collect enough data to get a genuine advantage over others is just one area that makes the difference. Add up 15 more areas that each give .001 per lap and you are so much faster than average you are like JGR or Hendrick. But it takes massive money for those tiny advantages to be made.

Separate question. How many races did they used to run in NASCAR back in the 80s? I was under the impression they only raced a few times a year. I get in these leagues and find out they race every single week which seems nuts to me. Did they used to race once per month in the old days before NASCAR got so rich?

It's going to rain at some point, that's for sure. I'm two hours away and it's rained, followed by sun, a minimum of 10 times a day 90% of days for the last month.
