#5Sophisticated and unsophisticated models alike are in agreement that the Spurs should crush tonight. Market participants that don’t use numbers yet pay attention to quantifiable trends (they haven’t figured out how), along with the general public can’t get enough of the Spurs.
Further, the oddsmakers had to open high and the books must account for sharper market moving analysts who are also recognizing a common bookmaking technique to steer the money. I base this on recent market performance and metrics designed from them. Also, this shows up in the choice of opening line and the small “adjustment” that is made when news comes out.
It is no surprise that the line bounced off of 9 to 9.5 in many places as there is both general public and more influential money hitting the Spurs, and they can really have an appetite.
In my opinion, should the Spurs fail to cover for their backers tonight, or even offer a “surprise” upset, the NBA has created a great explanation as to why and it is merely a part of the theatrics.
I hope all is well with Coach Pop; he’s truly one of the greats and one of the first to recognize the value of players who matured in their sport outside of the US.
Be careful what you bet on this game, the books seek your action here.

#8Spurs had to return half their players to the nursing home for check ups. Good thing the playoffs are drawn out so these old geezers can make a run. If there wasn't 5 days in between every other game they would have no shotComment -

#12Spurs have won by double digits in every single game off a loss this season except for 1 (which they won the game by 6).
Have not lost a back to back all season either.Comment -

#14Boyz, I have a solid play on the Spurs tonight. They have the deepest bench in the league and still have an outside shot at passing Golden State for best record and home court advantage. (Last night's loss didn't help that much though.) They're always good off a loss and owe a good performance for Coach Pop, who's tending to a family issue. This is the Wolves 4th game in 5 nights. Tired legs. Spurs pull away.Comment -

#23Golden State's coach doesn't want to chase the Bulls' record for regular-season victories at all costs.
The Warriors entered Thursday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a 54-5 record, putting them on pace to beat the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' NBA record of 72-10. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he is more worried about getting his players' rest before the playoffs arrive in late April than trying to break the Bulls' mark….
…"Resting, that will take precedence," Kerr said. "We will rest guys if they need it before we will go for any kind of streak or record, that's for sure."
Stephen Curry isn't surprised by Kerr's plan.
…"That is how I assumed he would handle it," Curry told Yahoo Sports. "Obviously, the big picture is always the most important trying to win a championship….
…"Little decisions along the way like that are about keeping us healthy, keeping us fresh as opposed to … what might be best for that particular night to get a win…
