#10Guys a complete asshole. Over paid by at least 6 mil a year and blasted management at every opportunity. Easy to save games when your team is 30 games under 500. He was a mess when the Phillies were still relevant. Let's see him produce when somethings on the lineComment -

#11The guy has been awesome this year. He plays for a bad team, so maybe women who don't watch a lot of sports don't think he's doing that well. Not sure.
Total malcontent though, you guys are right. The best way to keep a guy like that happy is to not have that fall-apart season, and I can't see the Nats having that anytime soon.Comment -

#13A little puzzling to me. Don't they have an awfully good closer in Storen? I hear he's pissed. Now if Papelbon blows a game or two it's going to be awfully tense.Comment -

#19Having a great season, and the Nats only have to pay him a half mil for the rest of this season.Originally posted by lakerboyPapelbon pitched his best game years ago. Dumb move.
They do have to pick up his 2016 option, but at a reduced rate.Comment -

#20yeah a reduced rate. 11 mil instead of 13. Can't wait to watch this implode. He's lost his fastball (86-88mph) and is a head case. Hasn't been the same pitcher since he left Boston.Originally posted by Ralphie HalvesHaving a great season, and the Nats only have to pay him a half mil for the rest of this season.

#21So why is he having such a great season in 2015? That's my question. Pitchers can reinvent themselves, and I think relievers have it easier since they pitch less. It might help, but you don't need the ooooh and aaaahhh stuff to be a good closer.Originally posted by USCPHILLYGUYyeah a reduced rate. 11 mil instead of 13. Can't wait to watch this implode. People seem to lean to hard to the past and completely ignore what's actually happening in the present.
11 mil for one year for a team like the Nats isn't bad. They think they have the pieces to win right now, and they're going for it.Comment -

#22NOT an insurance move since Papelbon becomes the closer immediately. Storen moves to set-up role, seems like a solid back-end bullpen to me.Originally posted by Ralphie HalvesProbably an insurance move if Storen falls apart in the postseason again.Comment -

he is a finess closer now like Houston Street. He aint gonna try to over power you but he still gets the job done. People lie but numbers don't. Papelbon is having an all-Star season:Comment -

#25I'm a stats guy so I cannot argue what he's doing this year stat wise. As I stated, easy to save games when your team is not in contention. I guess my distaste with him was that he's just not a nice guy (grabbing his groin when fans booed him - making comments that "he didn't sign up for this" when the Phils were losing and obviously over paid this clown). For what' it's worth - 2012 5-6 38 saves 4 BLown. 2013 - 5-1 29 saves 7 blown. 2014 - 2-3 39 saves 4 blown.
Wish the Nats the best

#28Yeah, Storen was having a shit season with that thrid most 29 saves in the leagues out of 31 save oppurtunities.Originally posted by greenhippoGood pickup. Their pen needs help
What part of Storen's season sucks, the 29 out of 31 saves, the 1.02 WH/IP? The 1.73 ERA?
The 44 K's in 36 innings?
This move will blow up in the Nationals face, like 90 percent of every move the Nationals have made in their history.
From that ridiculous, idiotic Jason Werth contract, to shutting down Strasberg, to everything in between.
And now I just listened to that idiot Matt Williams, (bigger idiot than Bear if that's possible) say "Papelbon is pitching the ninth inning, end of story"
That just totally mind fukced Storen, now he's like "wait a minute, I was told in April I am the closer, now this, look at my number...."
And he's right, what makes you think he's going to be in the right frame of mind to pitch the seventh or eighth inning from here on out?
Then there's the clubhouse factor, Paps is not likeable, I wish I was a fly on the wall when Papelbon comes into the clubhouse for the first time and approaches Storen, I would not blame Storen for telling Paps to go fukc yourself.
You think Bear is an idiot?
Read this.

I think I got a little lucky-hopefully, he doesn't lose the closer role to Storen.
