Marlins Send Former Closer Steve Cishek Down to Double-A
I believe he was in the All-Star Game a couple of years ago. He could still eventually reclaim the closer role if he can get his mechanics straight.

Marlins optioned RHP Steve Cishek to Double-A Jacksonville.

It's been a stunning fall for a guy who has been one of the better relievers in the National League over the previous four seasons. Sending Cishek down to work on his mechanics in a less pressurized situation could be the best thing, though. Cishek has been better of late after being removed from the closer role, but he still holds an ugly 6.98 ERA and 1.86 WHIP with 10 walks over 19 1/3 innings.

Getting a closer you can use for a good 3-5 years is rare, since they're such headcases. Cishek was actually one of those closers!

Good move by Marlins, and a good place for him to get right again.

was watching some of the marlins game last night (don't ask me why) and it seems like 90% of that team needs to be sent down.

        agreed.

Marlins might be worse than the Phillies.

talk about a change of scenery

he's about to go from chillin on yatchs in South Beach banging models and doing high grade cocaine to banging hillbilly chicks and he eating BBQ sandwhiches in the bus leagues for the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Just in terms of bullpen pitching, there aren't many staffs worse than Cincinnati. They are even carrying an extra reliever and it's still awful.

They'll finish a minimum of 8 games ahead of the Phillies. Book it.

Also, this is why you NEVER give closers a big contract.

                  Saves are overrated.

Ramos is doing just fine as the closer.

                  Marlins are 1-0 without Cisheck.

Too often closers have short careers. It's a diamond dozen for these guys. Its the starters that are like QBs in the NFL
