Yeah, totally agree Shaun, with this new format, one bad finish and you really have no other choice but to win to move on in the Chase. Kinda sucks to get taken out of it over running out of gas. Terrible format Nascar has come up with.

I really hate the title being determined by such a small sample size

one piece of bad luck and you have almost no shot even if you've dominated the season

It's not a true champion this way. Will never see another 5 time back to back winner this way.

Look at last year Newman pointed his way in never looked like winning a race and was 1 spot away from winning it all

I would make a 10 race segment with a points system and after every 2 races the bottom driver gets dropped

Yeah, probably exactly why they did this bullshit, Opti. Chase comes down to some random dumb fuk'in luck rather than the best teams who ran good all season and deserve to be there in the final ten races.

totally agree.... from where it orig started (season long pts), to points just over the last ten among a qualified twelve racers, to blocks of points over three races, has obliterated the whole purpose of a "season-long" championship

And just as we predicted, Jimmie Johnson got screwed over because of this format. $10 rear oil seal cost the guy a possibility of a championship. Those idiots at Nascar should get their heads outta their asses and go back to the fair point system which took into account every damn race, not just the final 10.
