Resting yours stars is smart, keeps them fresher for playoffs and also gives the bench guys important reps during the regular season so they will be ready when called upon in the playoffs. And if he indeed drafted Pollard the then spurs would continue to suck and Pop might have been fired after a couple of unsucessful seasons. And it's not like Pollard was drafted at No.2 or No.3, he was eventually drafted at No.19, that means other than Pop no other general manager ever even considered Pollard as being remotely close to being a great NBA player, which proved to be right.
