Statement From The Vikings:

Today’s decision was made after significant thought, discussion and consideration. As evidenced by our decision to deactivate Adrian from yesterday’s game, this is clearly a very important issue. On Friday, we felt it was in the best interests of the organization to step back, evaluate the situation, and not rush to judgment given the seriousness of this matter. At that time, we made the decision that we felt was best for the Vikings and all parties involved.

To be clear, we take very seriously any matter that involves the welfare of a child. At this time, however, we believe this is a matter of due process and we should allow the legal system to proceed so we can come to the most effective conclusions and then determine the appropriate course of action. This is a difficult path to navigate, and our focus is on doing the right thing. Currently we believe we are at a juncture where the most appropriate next step is to allow the judicial process to move forward.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and support Adrian’s fulfillment of his legal responsibilities throughout this process.

He IS playing this week, it is basically a done deal. And NFL won't act until the courts do either, so he seems safe for the time being. And who knows when this case will be heard in court, he might play the rest of the season with the case dragging into the off-season possibly.

As a Saints fan who is desperate for a win, I hope he doesn't play. As a human being, I say its fine to discipline your kids and spank them, but it appears as if he went WAY too far. Hopefully the NFL steps in.

Technically, what CAN the NFL do since AP hasn't been convicted of anything? If they suspend him and then the case gets thrown out of court for whatever reason, he could probably sue the league.

And he wasn't suspended until video evidence was made public that he was guilty, even if not guilty in the courts (YET!). So unless there is some video of AP excessively beating the kid, there is nothing the NFL can do until case runs its course, much like McDonald of 49ers.

He will play and I have no issue with it. He obviously went WAY too far and needs lessons as a parent, but he did these things (in my opinion) 'trying' to be a father. He needs to go to classes and have the state come in and evaluate the home, etc. (which is done ALL THE TIME).

Do any of you know how many cases of true child abuse are overlooked even when the authorities get involved? Yes, tragically wrong....but he did not burn the child with a cigarette or put a pillow over his face. When you see the texts you can tell he is just ignorant of how things work and he was (wrongly) trying to educate the child.

Again, do not chastise me for supporting the guy, I AM NOT DOING THAT, I am just saying that there is no way this is a criminal matter at this point and if he is prosecuted then it will be because of who he is, not what he has done.
