I can't imagine him actually coming to the Lakers. The thought of Carmelo and Kobe coexisting together just doesn't seem like a good fit. Yeah, they're friends, but they're also ball hogs.

At this point, I think it's NY with a small shot of him going to LA. Chicago doesn't have the money.

The Lakers deal is a bit less but looks like they come the closest to matching the Knicks deal with a better shot of winning.

I'm not even sure the Lakers have a better chance of winning. They probably do this season, but there is no way they are contending for a title.

New York will have much more flexibility after next off-season when Amare's ridiculous contract comes off the books. I think the Knicks are the better bet long-term, and they can pay the guy more.

I just don't know why he would be flirting with the Lakers since New York is offering him the max anyway.

If he's just using the Lakers as a smokescreen, it's to get more money out of Chicago.

Hopefully he'll surprise us all and retire.

Even with Melo the Lakers probably won't even make the playoffs next season, the Western conference is just too stacked. Much better chance of sneaking into the playoffs with the Knicks in the awful East.

Interesting to note about this is Carmelo specifically wants to play with Taj Gibson. The sad thing is, Bulls could offer more money if they traded Taj. So this deal is about money. He'd rather play in Chicago with Taj if money was not an issue and was the same across the board.

I know the Lakers had an off year but it's funny people discount them so quickly. The Lakers do not stay down long, it just doesn't happen. They just won their division 5 years in a row from 2008-2012. 7 conference titles in the 2000's. I'm not a fan but the Lakers will never be out of the picture, they will always be able to draw talent in and if Melo goes there then they are right back as a contender instantly.

I'm more inclined to believe that he's waiting for Bosh to bolt to Houston and then sign with Miami to play with LeBron....All this goes up in smoke when LeBron goes to Cleveland. Will be great when Bosh and LeBron both bolt leaving Miami with Wade, Granger, McRoberts and Napier with a boatload of cash to spend on nothing.
