It'll be interesting to see him and Anthony Davis playing together.

Nice pickup but I still don't see them making the playoffs, the Western conference is so tough.

Rockets will probably trade turnover Lin, coupling it with that first round draft pick they got to anyone willing to take on his contract.

I really don't care about the NBA, but would like to see Lebron switch teams to make things different.

Hopefully but they might not trade lin to keep up their Asian fan base.

                              Chris Broussard:

A lot has been made about the possibility of James teaming up with Anthony, and few teams in the league have a better chance of pulling that off than Houston.

Brian Windhorst is reporting the Rockets have traded Omer Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans, setting up a trade of Jeremy Lin to clear the cap room necessary to offer near-max dollars. While they'd like to keep Chandler Parsons, he might have to be sacrificed to move Asik and/or Lin. I'm told Golden State might be interested in trading for Lin if it can land Parsons along with him.

In any event, assuming the Rockets obtain the cap room to sign James or Anthony, the next step would be to give up star guard James Harden in a sign-and-trade for whichever superstar (James or Anthony) they don't sign as a free agent. Faced with the prospect of losing their superstars, both New York and Miami would be open to accepting Harden in a sign-and-trade.

In James, Anthony and Dwight Howard, the Rockets would have potentially one of the best Big Threes in league history, and certainly the best since the '80s trios of the Lakers' Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy and the Celtics' Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish.

They HAVE to trade Lin or they would have no shot at James or Anthony.

Rockets screwed up on trading Asik. They had so many better offers for Asik during the season last year and held their ground because "They were waiting to get his true value in a trade." There you go!! They ended up with a "Top 20" protected" pick and had to send money. When the hell are they going to see that pick???

It was actually a smart move. Instead of trading salary for salary, they dumped his salary for a FUTURE draft pick, thus clearing some cap space. They will now try any do the same with Lin. Their intentions have probably been to make a splash for a superstar (or two?) all along.

They could have also moved him for expiring contracts and a better draft pick. I'm pretty sure that's what the Celtics offered.

I don't think it could have been a better draft pick, Kings future #1 is probably better than Celtics future #1 as Boston looks like it will get better next couple of years with possibly three first round picks this year if they trade Rondo. As for expiring contract, I guess Rockets preferred holding onto Asik for this past season, although hard to respond without knowing the player(s) offered.

The pick that was being mentioned was one of the Nets picks they got in the Garnett deal. Remember, this draft pick from the Pelicans is top 20 protected.

Sorry I had a brain fart, yeah it was the Pelicans. Kings were in my head because of the Rondo talk. And I did not realize it was top 20 protected, I just saw the initial announcement last night and looked no further. So maybe the only answer was they valued Asik for this past season and didn't want to trade him for someone that could not help immediately?

It's actually my bad. I read top 20 protected in one place but actually........

The pick reportedly has Lowry like protection where it stays in New Orleans if it's a top three or worse than 20, but goes to Houston otherwise.
