NOW yes because pitchers are trained to top out at 120ish. Back then guys threw more all the time so their arms got used to it.

But it was the Achilles that could end it all for Johan. He was actually on target to join Orioles in a couple of weeks.

The shoulder did him in long ago. Even if he joined the Orioles, he was a shell of his former self.
