Two months plus, looking at early July return sez Rotoworld. Glad I stayed away from Harper in fantasy.

Harper (thumb) needs surgery; out until July

ESPN's Keith Law reports that Bryce Harper will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb and is expected to be out until at least early July.

Ouch. The Nationals were reportedly concerned about possible ligament damage and it appears that tests have shown the worst-case scenario. It's an awful break for Harper, who suffered the injury on a head-first slide into third base on a bases-clearing triple last Friday. We'll likely know a more precise timeline after surgery, but it sounds like the Nationals could have to make due without him until around the All-Star break. Nate McLouth figures to see regular playing time during his absence and is worth picking up in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Harper is becoming a dl regular.

Not good. A third of the opening day lineup on the dl.

Maybe he needs to take up a diet of booze and protein packs

Guy needs to take care of his body. Lots of guys with thumb injuries. Could this be because of steroid withdrawal?

I would say there goes my fantasy team - but he hadn't done dikk. He's still very young, but the hype really fukked him over because his numbers are no where near what the hype says he should be doing regardless of position. Maybe Matt Williams can beat some sense into the prima ballerina.

I never got why they hyped him so much before even coming to the majors

Nats won't need him full speed till June anyway. But for fantasy owners this is a bummer

Yes, while pre-majors hype was dead on in regards to Trout, the hype on Harper my have been overblown.

People were comparing him to Trout, from day one I have thought the comparison is absolutely ridiculous.

So Im in a league where thru whatever reason I am destined to finish last in saves. ON my bench I have Casey Jenssen. I was offered Harper for Janssen. Do you take it if you basically guaranteed getting no more than 1 point in a roto league for saves.
