New York Giants Considering Re-signing Peyton Hillis
To which I ask "Why"! I get that they need bodies in the backfield but they could not do any better? And the Daily News is "hearing" they will offer him two-year contract. Again, why? I can't imagine there being much competition for him.

He came in with no prep time and held up well in pass protection and averaged about 3.5 per carry (which is not bad considering the offensive line). This is a classic Giants signing: a known entity with experience in the system for, probably, pretty cheap.

Point about pass protection is well taken, but he seemed to be running in quicksand every time he carried the ball. Took him four steps before starting to go forward.

What if they sign him for close to league minimum? Then why not do the deal if he can pass protect well?

Anything more than the league minimum for him is an overpay.

If andre brown can stay healthy he should be their feature back.. David Wilson looks like he's starting to trend up towards being able to play this season but they will most probably take him real slow. Giants won't pay much for running backs so if they can get him cheap they will most indeed sign him..
Just like offense and defense has a "system", a lot of teams also have a system on ho wmuch they pay on what position and etc, so if u ask me, they are just followinmg what they have been doing..

Yep, two years, 1.8 million.
Giants re-signed RB Peyton Hillis to a two-year, $1.8 million contract.
Hillis, 28, signed off the street last year and rushed for 247 yards with two TDs on 73 carries (3.4 YPC), appearing in seven games and starting one. He should be viewed internally by the Giants as no more than an insurance policy. Hillis is a plus pass blocker, but offers no big-play ability as a runner, is in decline, and has a history of fumbling problems. He's an uninspiring re-signing.

Giants signed Rashad Jennings. Hillis drops a peg on the depth chart already, although Peyton is still the better blocker

I second that, hopefully the giants start off good this season instead of 0-6 and make another run at a superbowl
