I used Indy last week. I assume Houston would be the pick this week?

#2Not a bad pick.
However, you might want to save Houston for a little later in the year.
Houston has the short week and Tennessee looked really good against the Steelers.
I think Oakland might be a little darling of a pick this week.
Oakland played decent in Indy last week. Scared the Colts
J-Ville will have the long roadie and they are no friggin good!! They're terrible!!
Oakland may be a good pick because you won't use them again, this year.Comment -

#15I've gotten by taking Detroit week 1 and Chicago week 2.
Looking at their schedules.....good luck ever taking either the rest of the way, and feeling comfortable about it.Comment -

#21Haven't looked anything over yet, but a 20 favorite would probably be a safe bet. Throw a bit on the Jaguars ML to recover your survivor cost, just in case a major upset happens.Comment -

#23just out of curiosity, whats the farthest anyone here has made it in an NFL survivor pool? I haven't done many serious survivor pools but I swear I've never seen anyone in any of my pools make it past like week 7 or 8, and a few years the league winner only needed to survive to week 5
The reason I ask is I feel theres a big strategy difference between trying to last the longest in your pool and actually surviving the whole season (where your going to have to plan your picks out from the start so your not left picking coin flips or even underdogs during some later weeks). Do people ever really survive the whole 17 weeks? Like on all those espn/nfl.com etc... sites that have survivor pools, what percentage of people that enter make it to the end?Comment -

#24take a breather fellahs, use Seattle
they're healthy, they're hot, they might not be like this in a month from now-when you think you're gonna save them
when are you gonna use them?
October 17th vs. Tennessee
November 3rd vs. Tampa Bay
Nov 17th vs. Minnesota
these are their cupcakes
and if you've seen them play, they can beat Seattle, if Seattle loses a key player or two
my point is: ENJOY YOUR CUPCAKE, THIS WEEKComment -

I always take chances early in the season. This year I've jumped on Detroit and Chicago, because I feel they are playoff teams, but looking at how brutal their schedules are, you wouldn't feel comfortable taking them in any given week this year. I'm leaning towards Minnesota or Dallas this week.....and if I survive, I'm in pretty nice shape.Comment -

Darrell.....point well-taken, but aren't you forgetting probably their two biggest cupcakes outside of Jacksonville........in Arizona and St. Louis at home??? Sure it's the last 2 weeks, but let's be honest, Seattle isn't going to be 12-2 or 13-1 heading into week 16. These games will matter.Comment -

#31When looking at my spreadsheet, Seattle is the only team I have checked as 6 games that I'd be comfortable taking them (as of right now)
Denver, New Orleans and San Fran appear on my list 5 times.
With that said, I'm not going to waste Seattle, Denver or New Orleans this week, as many more opportunities exist. Sure I could lose this week by using this strategy, but end of the day, about 1% of people make it the whole year. I always figured that you have to think outside the box a little bit, because there's a reason only 1% of people make it.....and its not picking the biggest avialbale favorite every week.
Just my opinion!Comment -

#33I will definitely be saving Seattle. what makes you think they will have such a tough time with teams later in the year, they just manhandled san fran at home. taking seattle at home against any team is a pretty safe pick. why not burn minny this week, if they cant beat the browns then they shouldn't even be playing on sundays. that way, you use Minny, who is not that great of a team anyways, and save your studs like seattle. This was the type of strategy I used last year and made it undefeated to the superbowl. there are always gonna be teams like the jags, browns, raiders, etc, playing on the road that you can fadeComment -
