He's their best prospect but doesn't have a spot just yet. If you grab him in a keeper, you'll be happy sometime soon.

Rangers should trade Elvis Andrus for help in other areas and let Profar do his thing at SS.

For Fantasy purposes he's Starlin Castro with slightly better plate discipline, but he won't get much playing time at the major league level this year and will most likely start at AAA till August or an injury.

Nice to hear some input about him. I'm in a Keeper League and like to plan out 2-3 prospects to pick up and stash.

I know he's been considered the #1 overall prospect in baseball for the past couple of years.
Made his major league debut last year with a home run in his first at bat.
He's a stud.

Good player to stash in a keeper. Texas a team always hit by injuries.

Depending on the specifics of your league, he may not be worth rostering at this point

I would roster him just for the name, I also love to take Fister in drafts!

kid has a great arm, most teams were looking to draft him as a pitcher....not sure why the Rangers would want to waste that arm playing 2nd base..kid also needs an attitude adjustment from what I've read..

Cards might trade for Elvis. He's not that expensive but doubt cards want to give up young arms.

He's not going to be starting at SS in Arlington anytime soon with Elvis' contact extension. Maybe the Rangers trade Kinsler and move him to 2B.

It's a nice problem to have with that log jam. They will sort it out. They have had talks about moving Kinsler to first and then Profar would play 2nd.

There's no such thing as wasted 24th round pick.

I have to agree at 24 there should not be a wasted pick

Plenty of pitchers taken late in the draft end up with long careers.
All it takes is a good pitching coach in the minors

I agree, its all a crapshoot in those later rounds. Better to have taken a shot on a young player with large upside than a middling veteran in the late rounds.

The nice year that Moreland is having has killed any thoughts of moving Kinsler to first base. Barring injury, you probably won't see Profar in the bigs until September 1.

Happens all the time. Jesus Montero was in every rumored Yankee trade for well over a year before he was traded.

they should've traded Andrus rather than paying him 15 million a year
that would've cleared a spot for Profar

Played today.
Top Texas prospect Jurickson Profar made his first appearance in the majors this year at second base and was immediately put to the test by Crisp, who had infield hits his first two times up despite Profar's best efforts. The 20-year-old went far to his left to grab the first one and fielded the next almost behind the bag at second, but Crisp beat the throw both times.
Profar drove in both Texas runs without a hit, scoring Geovany Soto with a grounder in the third and Mitch Moreland with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
With Ian Kinsler on the disabled list because of bruised ribs, Profar is back with the Rangers after homering in his first big league at-bat as a 19-year-old last year.
