You have a point...but I don't think you're so far gone when someone tells you your former D Coordinator is doing something "inappropriate" in the shower with a 10 year-old that you don't go to the police and tell the AD after the fact. Just like in the military...when you're the Commander, you're responsible for your people/building, and if something goes down you're the first person who gets it.

im afraid that if he went to the cops, since paterno wasnt there and see it happen, it turns into a he said she said type deal... more will be brought to light in the coming days

I was reading an article on CNN...it was talking about McCreary...I took it from there:

"McQueary's father, John, said his son was out of town on a recruiting trip Sunday, and he declined to comment about the case or say whether they were the two named in the grand jury report."

Like I said, what chance in hell does McCreary have in getting a recruit?

Paterno does not even know the names of 90% of the players on the team. He does not coach, or have any effect on the game. Paterno is as relevant as Penn St. wants him to be. Hell, I think Penn St. would happily rid themselves of the old regime.

No doubt that McQueary was in a no-win situation:

1) If you just say to yourself "I didn't really see that" and forget about it...you're a coward.
2) If you report it to Joe (like he was supposed) like he did...Joe takes it and maybe even dismisses McQ after the season - to remove the witness.
3) Go to the cops - even worse...Sandusky/Joe tell the cops that McQ is a trouble-maker trying to get their job. Cops are looking the other way the whole time, so they dismiss allegations to "save State College."

I agree with this, but with his reputation, I would have followed up with my superiors to find out what they were going to do about it. If they told him, flat out, they were doing nothing, then that's when JoePa had a decision to make, and he didn't follow through. Basically we both just agreed that what this all boils down to is that Penn State was sooooo protective of their squeaky clean image that the guys in charge simply looked the other way and covered it up and now 9 years later it's come back to completely shatter that image. It's sad and disgraceful. He also said he thought they would completely clean house.

Don't be so sure about that jj. I could be wrong, but PSU will try to do the "right" thing now by over-correcting and they'll get a ton of pressure from the non-football faction of their community. It'll be interesting to see it unfold, because honestly, if this was any other program and any other coach, he'd be long gone by now if something like this happened. The moral/ethical issue alone would crush a guy's tenure under a cloud of political correctness. Question is, can JoePa's clout save him?

Agreed, but not only McCreary. Very likely in the next few years Penn State will be less than an also ran. I can see this team out of the top 25 for a very long time. Very few top athletes will attend. Hate to say this because I live in PA and have been a fan for decades. Such a shame.
