Big D's plays for the weekend
I've been good in college football and not so good in the NFL.

    Iowa +4
I assume everyone will be on Michigan since Iowa is coming off of a loss to a horrible Minnesota team. That being said, Michigan has only played two roads games all year and Iowa has the better defense in this matchup at home. Iowa has decent players. I expect them to show up at home to try and make amends for last week's loss. I have to roll with the home dog here.

    Texas tech +14

I don't think Tech is that good but I don't think Texas is that good either. This is way too many points here. It's a classic knee jerk reaction after Tech got blown out against Iowa State. It was pretty obvious that Tech was still celebrating their victory over OU. I expect Tech to be focused this week and lose by just enough to cover. Texas by 10.

    Kansas +14

Another knee jerk reaction. Iowa State just destroyed Tech in Lubbock, surely they handle a bad KU team at home right? Wrong. Iowa State is probably feeling pretty good about themselves and I doubt they think take KU seriously. That being said, we're talking about Iowa State here! They shouldn't be favored by 14 over anyone. KU scores enough to cover here.

    Oklahoma -14

I see a 38-21 type game. OU will make up for their previous performance at home tomorrow. A&M is in free fall mode right now.

    Oklahoma State -21

All they do is cover. I don't see how K-State can keep pace in this one.

    Baylor -2.5
This might be my biggest play. It depends on how the day games go. I have a feeling Baylor will light Mizzou up. Mizzou is in a bad spot coming off a road win against A&M. Baylor will score a lot of points here and I see them covering in a high scoring game.

San Diego Chargers +6 and ML
The Packers aren't going undefeated. This is a good spot for them to actually lose outright. I'm taking the Chargers +5.5 and sprinkling a little on the ML.

Good luck this weekend guys. I liked LSU but the line is 4.5 That kind of makes me think Bama wins by at least a touchdown because everyone, myself included, are expecting a very close low scoring game. Who wouldn't take 4.5 in a game like this?

Thank you. Even if these picks suck, I'll be here for the aftermath. I expect a lot of haters to enter and make fun of the picks if they lose. It should be a good time.

The Iowa pick is interesting. I didn't see the game against Minnesota last week but apparently they struggled to contain Marqueis Gray and its my understanding they struggle to contain running QBs in general. Calling him a poor man's Denard would be charitable. Losing to minnesota is just inexplicable but I agree with your psychological angle, Ferentz and Iowa have been known to bounce back after tough losses. After losing to Wisc last year they bounced back and destroyed MSU the next week.

Normally, I would fully agree with this sentiment, however, Iowa State's new QB looks solid. I'm a little biased towards mobile QBs, admittedly, and he was playing against a Red Raider defense that was resigned to the loss for most of the game, but his decision-making was excellent under pressure. It's hard for me to imagine the Kansas defense really containing the kid when he's playing to impress and is the type that will tuck and run for 3 yards instead of airing it out when he gets in trouble. He's a playmaker.

Add to that, ISU looks like they'll be setting an attendance record tomorrow and the crowd will be rowdy for them coming off the win.

All valid points. With that said, this situation is similar to the situation Texas Tech had last week at home when they lost to Iowa State.

Kansas is coming off of a 43-0 loss. The Iowa State players watched film of that all week and feel pretty good about themselves. On the other side, KU is embarrased and will at least show up ready to play. KU is horrible but I'm hoping their offense scores enough points to cover here.

Should Iowa State really be favored by 14 over a conference opponent?

Don't get me wrong, I don't think KU is a slam dunk by any means, I just really like this spot for them. The players at Kansas have to know this is their best shot at winning a game the rest of the year. I expect a good effort out of them. On the other side, I feel like it's a perfect let down spot for Iowa State after their biggest win of the season so far.

Good point about struggling with mobile QBs. That being said, I feel Michigan is overrated and they have struggled in both road games this year. Iowa is coming off an embarrassing loss. I expect them to be motivated.

Emotion and the situation factor into sports all the time.

Thanks for the input guys. That's the whole point of the thread, to get a discussion going. It's a lot better than people say, "You're an idiot. Michigan is free money."

                  Thanks for adding some value.

I kind of do think they're worth -14 against a Kansas defense that, while bad against the pass, really suffers because of their inability to stop the running game. The Zone Read is going to make for a very long day for the Kansas defense, and I feel like this game is going to go very much like Kansas' game against KState. There are a lot of similarities between Collin Klein and Jared Barnett, and their respective offenses.

As I write this, I'm pretty sure I'm talking myself into the over on the game. It likely won't get any better than the current 60.

I don't want to jinx it but looks like you were right on the Iowa play. Mich is struggling against the run.

Currently 4-1 but Okie State looks like a loser. K-State is keeping up offensively and turnovers have killed the Cowboys.
