i see alot of you guys dont know what to make of it... Auburn AD has an easy choice don't become USC Trojans. Unless Ncaa has given Aurburn AD the clearance they need that everything is ok which is doubtful now in this short time. Auburn cant risk playing an ineligable player would be doom for the program imo. Trust me just like Unc and Usc it takes time to look into this its a gamble if Auburn plays him.
I'd be shocked if cam newton played saturday... shocked

#3I'd be shocked if he doesn't play, if he is ruled ineligible the last 7 games dont count, so this particular game isn't going to mean much either way as far as disqualifications. I don't see auburn chancing losing this game and not playing cam, based on the fact he may not be eligible. If he wasn't eligible now he wasn't eligible last week or the week before, it changes very little!!! He brings in too much money for that school, and the ad will want to squeeze as much juice out of it as he can. Even if these games end up not counting the money the students and alumni pay to watch still does!!!Comment -

#4i would play him. he is there only chance at winning the bcs and if he wasn't there the team would be a .500 team anyway. so what if he is ruled ineligible in 2 years. same thing as reggie bush. no one gives a shit two years later.Comment -

#5You guys are thinking short term as in this season. If cam is ruled ineligable could be a loss of scholarships and post season ban for future seasons. In the Sec that might as well be the kiss of death. I doubt AD Jay Jacobs and Auburn decision makers are thinking short term. Lets say cam plays and auburn wins the bcs championship and in a year or two hes found ineligable would they let Auburn keep the title?Comment -

#8so what if they can't keep the title? memphis basketball had to vacate a bunch of wins but they still got to the final four and you cant change that. even if they take the title away. it doesn't matter long term because everyone will still know they won it. everyone still knows reggie bush was the best player in football that year even if he doesn't have a trophy for it.
do what you can today to win and don't worry about what will happen later because aurbun isn't going to win anything in the next 10 years anyway unless he is on the team. i am saying without him their team would be at the bottom with tennessee without any real chance at success.Comment -

#9so playing a player you know could be ineligable has no consequences? I Could be wrong but i dont think Ncaa is going to say " whats done is done" If that was the case wonder why Unc had those eligibility questionable players sit those games out.Comment -

#11But if he's is found to be ruled ineligible it wouldnt just be for the Georgia game, but the first game of the season as well as every game. The only fallback playing him could have in my opinion is that it can be seen as a form of arrogance by Auburn by playing him amidst these swirling allegations full knowing that they paid for him. That in itself could cause the NCAA to impose even stiffer penalties, but if thats the case Auburn is being arrogant playing him last week also.Comment -

#16Read the report on Yahoo. The NCAA supposedly warned Auburn today about the ramifications of him playing and being ruled ineligible later. So much going on who knows whats true.
I keep seeing that "what is done is done" mentallity and you have to remember the NCAA also has a phrase they like to use "lack of instituional control". That phrase scares the shit out of people.Comment -

if he's found guilty this whole season will be a wash, doesnt matter it he plays tomorrow or not.
NCAA will still bring the hammer down on Auburn regardless if he plays the rest of the season or not if found guiltyComment -

#24If they paid him money then Auburn gets the death penalty if proven. If his dad and/or him asked for money at another school Cam is screwed and Auburn's season is wiped away. Can they prove either? Auburn should play him if they didn't pay him.Comment -
