    Stoops Interested In Notre Dame?
As the college football season nears an end, silly-season rumors are picking up. And to no one's surprise, rumors concerning Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops arise after arguably the most challenging and unpredictable season in Stoops' tenure. According to Chicago Sun-Times , Oklahoma's Bob Stoops is reportedly interested in Notre Dame if Charlie Weis is fired (as expected).

Stoops has catagorically denied this rumor. It is the silly season. Rumor has it that Mike Leach is leaving T-Tech to go to Louisville, where he would have an easier time trying to win a Conference Championship and get into a BCS game. Other little gems come form people like that baffoon Mike Wilbon, who says that he has reliable information from "sources" that both Charlie Weis and Rich Rodriguez will be fired at the end of the season.

There is the rumor that Mark Mangino will be fired at the ned of the season for poor performance and anger management issues. Aparently he has a real bad temper. Then there is the Jim Harbaugh to Michigan rumor. The best I have seen was on CBSSports.com that said that Urban Meyer would take the Notre Dame job if his wife let him, and the decision was up to her. Don't you just love this stuff?

Actually Stoops leaving Oklahoam wouldn't shock anyone.

Stoops is a midwest guy---grew up in Ohio. And he has bitched openly about Oklahoma's boosters being a pain in the ass for the past few seasons.

ND is going to land a big name. They have recruited well, the schedule is easy. And as much as everyone may hate them......winning at that school will make any coach a legend.

Meyer's name gets lumped in with ND because he wrote in his book that ND was his "dream job". Any guy writes that about any school and he will always get mentioned with them when an opening happens.

Also Urban Meyer has mentioned that his dream job is to be the head football coach at Notre Dame. The only thing they say is holding him back from the job is his wife.

Notre Dame will land a big name. Their schedule is easy. Saying that they recruited well is foolish. What happened to all of the great recruits that they allegedly landed over the past 4 years? Lindy's has their recruiting class of 2009 at #21. That is not recruiting well.

                Big...

I have done this with you before.

ND's class was ranked number 1 by Rivals and #2 by Scout in 2008.

                Take a look for yourself...

4 of the last 5 years ND has had a top 11 class.

                2006 was 5th
                2007 was 11th
                2008 was 2nd
                2009 was 17th

Cumulatively, their classes are ranked ahead of everyone except USC, Florida, and Texas.

The reason Weis is getting fired is because he hasn't been able to coach this talent----it isn't rocket science. But I can guarantee one thing----Brian Kelly and Bob Stoops won't be bitching about the talent they have to work with if they are hired.

Ummm Martin you might need to add LSU to that list with USC and Florida with the recruits. LSU has been in the top 10 for recruiting since Miles been there.

LSU does recruit very well Z, but if you add the cumulative rankings of all the recruiting services (Scout, Rivals, ESPN, GW)-----LSU finishes 7th in the cumultive rankings. Phil Steele actually does a great job at creating cumulative rankings of all the services.

USC, Florida, Texas, ND, Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Georgia, and Penn State make up the top 10 for years 2006-2009.
