I don't know if it makes a difference or not but the universities are 10 miles apart. Not a huge home field advantage as fan travel is not an issue.

The one thing I have never been able to quantify is a home state rivalry.

This isn't basketball and Duke not a big football school. Duke has had some nice wins the past 5 years but they are beat down after the brutal schedule they have had so far this year.
