Sure thing Meyer-not trying to talk you into wagering on the gophers. Quick thoughts on why I'm backing them..I expect Rodney Smith to have a big big game on the ground. They should be able to balance a strong run game while being able to move the ball versus a weak secondary who has given up a lot of yards per game this season. Wash St will put up points too(maybe even easily) but Gophers goal will be to win time of possesion and keep there defense fresh. They have very talented pass rush that can certainly cause problems for Wash St...We all know what Luke Falk is capable of...i look at the situation though and personally I think the more motivated group will be the gophers. This has to be some kind of let down for Cougars seeing how they had hopes of playing in the rose bowl just about a month ago before getting destroyed by Washington in what was their "biggest" game of the year... With all the suspensions and headlines about boycotting the game I can't help but think the line offers extra value. I think the gophers lose, but can they cover the spread? I think they will. Some other situational trends I look at support the play as well as it being a very contrarian play. Glad I got +10 this morning before the number got hit. I would still take the gophers at +7...that said, I've been wrong before
