Damn I blew the line move there. I just don't see it, Ga St should not be favored by this much over anyone and Charlotte can score on them. Now seeing +7.5 by the way.

I also feel the ND vs. Tex will be a tight game. I like the under. It is a NFL type number for a college total. It screams under to me. Defenses are ahead of the Offense early in the season. Texas has to develop an offense before I will take them in a flat bet. GL

I know nothing about Charlotte but gotta think they'll be playing with a heavy heart as they lost one of their top assistant coaches with an unexpected death, this summer. He was originally from Eastern KY, about 20 miles from my home. Will tail that game.

Still can't figure out why the Utes are favored.

Are you serious?
One they beat Michigan by 17 last year at Michigan and are playing at home this year, which is a tough place to play on a Thursday Night
Two they have the more proven team
Three it's not like Harbaugh will work instant magic. He went 4-8 and 5-7 in his first two years at Stanford.

Yea I remember. I took the Utes last year. Took Utes in 08' up there. And please don't ever, ever call Rice Eccles stadium "a tough place to play" pains me to admit I have been to several games there. U of U is a heavily watered down version of ASU. I got two words for u, Travis Wilson. I just can't trust that kid. Fukkin baby giraffe.

I'd have a hard time betting a team like Charlotte that we know almost nothing about in terms of how they fit into FBS. They didn't exactly tear it up in FCS if I remember right.

I think it's just the opposite, I think Michigan is overvalued just because of Harbaugh. Utah is the much better team, I rate them -4.5 on a neutral field, should be -7.5 (or a juiced -7) at home.

I think Charlotte going 5-6 in their first two years of existence in the FCS is a better accomplishment than Georgia State just showing up vs. FBS teams but never beating any in two years. They could literally have the worst defense in the country and I expect Charlotte to score a lot of points. Charlotte had 22 touchdown drives of 90 seconds or less last year in FCS, and Georgia State is a perfect first FBS opponent because they are not really that much better than an FCS team. Their ONLY win since joining FBS was 38-37 vs. an FCS school.

Can't argue with that.
I do think a year of exposure in the FBS is a huge positive for a team, regardless of how bad they were their first year.
Just too many unknowns for me. I'm not slick enough to bet a game like that!

Like the Utah pick, but am really struggling with the UNC vs SC game. LT I read your write up and was wondering if you have any thoughts on Spurrier being 23-2 in season openers? With last years early blowout loss and a close loss to SC while with Duke in 89' as his only opening week losses in his career.

Means nothing unless he has had the same players those 25 years. Not high on Gamecocks this year.

Yeah, and I think 23 of those wins were against the Citadel.

Hi LT - was wondering if you had any thoughts on the Purdue / Marshall match up with Marshall at -7. I feel like Purdue has had some random good spurts in games but overall has been a bit of a disaster the past few years. Thanks!

Great deduction. I will happily fade your UNC pick as SC have the better athletes and Spurrier is the best coach in NCAA history at prepping his team for week 1.

I am riding with you on the Longhorns and Tar Heels. Hoping to grab Auburn -10 but might still bite at -10.5 even though I hate opening weekend games where being rusty costs us a cover.
