I don't follow either team. I'm looking for some insight. Give me your plays and why. Thanks.

I follow Pac-12 and a few other schools. I know a little bit about Texas, but not enough to compare them to Oklahoma. Any help is appreciated.

I put this together earlier in the week. im all over texas...heres why
yo, I ended up taking texas +4 (bought pt) and texas on the ml. bunch of people are talking shit about texas defense. but lately they have come around (although played some high powered offenses) They had 10 tackles for loss against oklst. and 12 against wvu. also they had 5 blocked/kicks/punts so far this season, including 2 against wvu. They also have the ability to pressure on QBs having 3.7 sacks per game in last 3 games (against strong offensive opponents as well) (a weak spot of oklahoma is their offensive line) and they had 7 QB hurries and 2 forced fumbles against wvu. oklahoma had a much better line last year and they were able to get pressure on them last year, knocking down 6 passes as well. In last years blowout, costly turnover very early in the game put them down early, and their offense (with a young david ash) never really got into sync. They were alternating case mccoy and david ash at that time, and ash was being pressured/sacked like crazy by oklahoma (8 times). This year they have proven to be able to protect ash a lot better only giving up 5 sacks so far on the season. Oklahoma defensive line this year has been unable to pressure QBs against their tougher opponents (0 hurries and only 2 passes broken up against kansas st/ 2 broken up passes and 2 QB hurries against texas tech) theyve only forced 1 fumble so far this season, and were unable to capitalize on it. their TO margin is -2 and have already lost 4 fumbles on the season. meanwhile texas has proven the ability to protect the ball well and still cause turnovers on defense with a turnover margin of +7. Texas is my 2nd biggest play of the week. (1 unit on ML and 1 unit with pts) Im confident enough they should atleast cover the points. David Ash will be looking for revenge for taking advantage of em last year. now he has some protection and has developed nicely, Im sure he will be able to move the ball down the field a lot more successfully than oklahoma will be able to. combine that with a turnover + or 2 in our favor and you have the recipe for an easy cover. Hope this helps. Take a look at my card, other big games I loved were florida and syracuse. Good luck this weekend.

I always laugh when people say they "are all over" a side, make a long write up, and then proceed to buy half a point. If you're so confident, that .5 shouldn't matter should it?
I mean, you didn't buy it to 3 or 7, you bought it to 4.....
In the last three games the Texas defense has given up the following:
Ole Miss - 170 yards rushing and 31 points
OSU - 275 yards rushing and 36 points
WVU - 200 yards rushing and 48 points
Some great defense.

I got Texas + 3 1/2 . Love the Hook and this should be a great game to watch. Steers 51 ppg last 3 and Ash 11 TD , 1 pick. I've been impressed with QB Ash's play and thought Jones would look better. I was on the Sooners last week, but Texas Tech literally tossed that game away with 3 picks. Should be close and when I think the dog has a chance for the outright win, I'll always take the pts. gl with your pick.

wow, really? I have to explain the importance of buying 3.5 to 4? think its pretty obvious/common sense in football, cant really be explained, something you just gotta watch enough football to understand, I will ALWAYS BUY that half pt in that situation regardless of my confidence in the game, but thats just me, do you understand how scoring works?
yes, all 3 of those teams avg pts a lot more than that, except ole miss, whos avg ppg is 31. oklhoma state has rushed over 200 yards in 3 of the 4 games, do I need to explain how WVU able to put up that many rushing yards? think its pretty obvious with that offense, also ole miss has put up a rediclous amount of rush yards in all their games (in SEC power fashion), only less against alabama where they still got 80, and texas am 159, every other game well over 200....not to mention texas was blowing the shit out of them with 10min left in 3rd qtr 38-10....before giving up a 75 yard passing TD, so ya their defense isnt as bad as those numbers appear buddy,

Makes sense.
I see the Sooners as a pretty obvious right-side winner. The Longhorns have played two intense games in a row against OK State and WVU. Two very close games that were decided in the final 2 minutes, and now playing another big game in the Red River Rivalry. That's a very taxing series of games to play in consecutive weeks.
Against OK State, Joseph Randle ran for 199 yards at 8.0ypc against them. Against WVU, Andrew Buie ran for 207 yards against them at 6.7ypc. The Longhorns just flat out can't stop the running game because they can't tackle. Of course, Oklahoma normally has a more modest rushing attack, but Whaley & Williams are very capable of exploiting this weakness in the Longhorns' game.
Ultimately, Oklahoma's strength is their defense, and this is where I think Texas' schedule will really work against them the most. OK State and WVU are not great defensive teams, and these last two games were shootouts by nature. The Sooners represent a significant upgrade in the defensive pressure that Ash will be under, that they just haven't seen yet from anyone. I know Ash/McCoy were rookies last year, but the Sooners defense ate them alive in last year's RRR. Let's not pretend that this isn't a huge advantage for OU. The Sooners pass defense this year is among the best in the nation, as was illustrated last week against Seth Doege and the Red Raiders.
I think the Sooners defense sets the tone early in this game and I suspect fatigue will be a major factor for the Longhorns as the game progresses. The game could be tight early, but I expect the Sooners to pull away eventually for the win.

LOL. I said I would take Tulsa. I never said they would win by 40. I said it would be a close game but I thought they had a great chance to win. I can find the thread if you want me to. I was wrong. It happens.
I tried to warn you guys that Texas has a bad defense. After one quarter they have already given up 150 yards rushing.

Yes it is. I gave you the numbers before the game and one quarter in Texas is down three TDs and can't stop anything.
Why do people always overrate their defense? It sucks.

The Longhorns have been even more pathetic defensively today than I thought they'd be. A team that can't tackle will never win big games, no matter what else they have going for them.

20 minutes in and OU already has 300 yards, 4 TDS, and is up 27-2.
Are you people still going to defend that Texas defense that can't stop anything?

wow good job. dofbiga spot on anaylsis. very general and to the point. your really good at handicapping, maybe you should go pro.... my anaylsis was still pretty accurate. but I overrated certain spots. like linebackers of texas, to you though, I wouldnt be surprised if you didnt know what position that is, your pretty satisfied with defensive player. biggest problem with texas is their tackling ability. also the terrible playcalls on both sides of the field, the outside safety blitz on the 1 e 5 yard line when your middle line backers hurt. absolutely went untouched when he got thru the line bc of that play call.the line has been able to get to landry and stop the run, but the linebackers are handing them this game. on offense side of ball playcalling has been just as bad, mack brown had his 2nd called pass 12 min into the 2nd qtr.....they just kept running into oklahoma defense getting stuffed for entire first qtr. going 3 and out 3 times, I have no idea why. they had their first down field pass was when they were down 2-20, dropped passes in open field prevented them from keeping the game close, at that point with their offense, but defense isnt doing any help, their tackling is an absolute joke. way to go dofbiga, that your only pick of day ? i would really love some more of your awesome general picks/anaylsis

I have to agree on the Texas play calling. Running between the tackles is not working. Give it a rest.
