UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt (June 10, 2017)

I think the last leg kick Mark Hunt landed in round 1 injured Lewis right leg.

In round 2 Hunt landed a solid leg kick to Lewis left leg that injured that one too.

Then both of Lewis legs were jacked up for the rest of the fight & it was over.

Fight of the year candidate. Crazy fight.

Lewis has done this same thing in multiple fights
he gasses always but he has HUGE power and hes landed on other tired fighters, he didnt give up , his body broke down and gave up on him.... Guys came from behind multiple times and has shown he has heart before

when people lose everybody piles on and hates them , but when they win everybody praises them

hopefully spur of the moment thing, he just got a bigger contract to and can be a top 15 HW with how shallow the division is

Lewis gave up. Hands on his hips, barely standing, not defending himself, and Hunt took quite a while to finish him (although he didn't even knock him down, ref was just sick of watching Lewis when he wasn't trying).

Hunt a better technical striker regardless, Lewis will always be great for striking battles at HW...
Hunt will get starched by the top HWS though way to fast for him, wonder if UFC will feel him to a top guy to starch him
hes fought them all except Cain... or Ngannou maybe

JDS, Overeem, Stipe and Werdum have all destroyed him though

id like to see Hunt vs Struve or Ngannou for a competitive scrap

I think Hunt waited for the perfect time to swarm. It seemed like he had opportunities in Rd 3 but it turns out Lewis had a few more heavy punches and knees in him. Hunt was very careful not to get tagged. Smart.

Lewis was barely standing with his back to the cage with his hands on his hips.

Vast majority of guys would've finished someone like that much earlier. It dragged on for a while with Lewis almost falling down every time he tried to move, and unable to keep his hands up.

try being 280lbs doing back flips, box jumps into the octagon and throwing switch kicks/high kicks
hes a top 10 HW on planet earth with under 5 years of training hes a pure athlete with power by definition

dudes a beast, he lost tonight but people were on his nuts when he was winning... but thats mma for ya
hope he comes back regardless hes fun to watch

Not only that, did you see how fast and explosive he is?

Compare Derrick Lewis' speed to someone like Bigfoot Silva or Fabricio Werdum, someone who is close to the same size & weight.

There aren't a lot of people in the world who are as big and as fast as Derrick Lewis is.

Even if Lewis lost I think he could give Stipe problems if they fought.

Lewis needs other bigger guys for fun matchups not smaller HWS who could use movement and tag him up/ wrestle him easily

You will always do shit if you dont go for the easy picks. Lewis lost all his fights until he got the KO.

You cant be surprised he lost every round against Hunt. I mean, thats what he always do.

Ended up being a decent card after all.. I was entertained as well.. Bit hit and miss with my bets but hit the ones I really needed hit to win this event.. Didn't win a bunch but it was a win... I think I won about $350 on each book.. So nothing to brag about, so I'm not gonna copy and paste all the plays this go around below.... I did hedge a bunch in this event so that helped with not taking large losses..

These 4 wins all at + odds really put me over the top for the event - Moraga by dec, Brunson straight and by KO, Hooker straight and ITD and Pitchel straight and ITD..

I also was unsure with the main event thinking Hunt or D Lewis could knock each other out so I played it like this in the end.. Was slightly leaning Beast by KO though. I used a Parlay with the Brunson KO as a hedge play so that worked out fine for me..

We all liked Brunson in that fight so that worked out great

Back problems can make you retire. The Beast did make alot of money in the UFC already so maybe he's financially set for life? He is 32 years old, getting married with a bad back and losing fights now at the top level.. I probably would retire too..

Training every day becomes a struggle and grind with nagging injuries... Lewis looked stiff in that fight, his cardio was suspect as well.. A bad back can do that because of limited training...
