#49Matt Brown made 181K on Saturday plus sponsorships.
Proves the point that if you win fights, you will make decent money in the UFC.
Hell, Nik Lentz made 58k. If he fights three times a year, thats 150k.Comment -

#50Not necessarily. Depends on how you define "decent". If you're a world-class featherweight who is 9-3 in the UFC and just gave Chad Mendes one of his toughest fights, you probably spend an ass-load of money on nutrition, coaches, camps, travel, etc. You work unbelievably hard, far harder than almost any other career path. You get punched in the face and risk permanent illness. You work incredibly hard because you have a very small window of opportunity in which to make money in MMA. When you're that good, that skilled, and you win that often, working that hard, and you make $58000 before taxes, camp expenses, etc., is that "decent"? I would be surprised if he took home half of that, after sponsors, taxes, and locker room bonuses, and that's disgusting, when you consider that a high-level mixed martial artist needs to set themselves up for life from this sport. They often have few other life skills which they can fall back on when they need to retire.Comment -

#59I do judo at a semi-professional level and let me tell you, even the top 20 in the ranking list has to have a side job (there's some exception for guys like Teddy Riner). That's why so many wrestlers/judokas turns into MMA fighters, there is no money in those types of olympic sports.Comment -

#60I could probably name 20 leagues making less money than UFC fighters without even thinking too hard.
Badminton, darts, bowling, camel jockeys, arena football.
Shit, poker is on ESPN, the average professional is negative every year.
Not to mention the low hanging fruit, of EVERY other MMA league in existence.
Truth of the matter is, if the UFC paid its fighters ZERO money, they would still have no trouble attracting fighters. The music industry proved this, all the get rich contracts dried up, people still bust their ass to LOSE money making music.Comment -

#65That's common knowledge. then they reach the highest level and get severely underpaid compared to athletes in shitty sports like football, basketball, baseball, etc. people can say what they want about corruption in boxing etc, at-least they pay there main eventer's what there due.Comment -

#67UFC pay is terrible enough said. that's why the smart ones like matt serra invest most there fight money in a gym, so they have that income when they retire. i'm willing to bet 90% of UFC fighters are running low on cash and have no income a few years after they retire. and guess what there not even spending big.Comment -
