#282Nick Newell the one armed wonder I think should not be allowed to compete in MMA.. He has an unfair advantage with his arm subs. The nub arm slips in way to easily on sub attempts and once locked in with the good arm his sub's are almost impossible to defend.. When hooked in the torque is greater too..
If you look at his record all but one of his wins are by arm subs.. That's not by coincidence.. Also it's very hard to get under hooks on the nub side when he presses you against the cage to get a position advantage.. Impossible to prepare and train to fight the guy as well..
NICK NEWELL is a nice story but the dude should not be allowed to compete in MMA..Comment -

#287Where's Thor? I thought for sure he would have a theory about fight fixin'. To be honest the whole fight seemed surreal to me. I kept thinking why doesn't he just keep circling to Newell's left. But on the other hand I had good $ on Newell to win so obviously I'm glad that he didn't.Comment -

#289I understand you guys think a one arm fighter is at a disadvantage but Nick Newell has the elbow joint intact and he is not at a disadvantage when closing the distance... He can deliver sneaky quick elbows with that razor thin half arm.. It's impossible to train and prepare to fight him.. It's like what sparring partner or trainer can simulate Nick Newell? No one..
You could clearly see in his fight last night that once the choke was sunk in, even when he turn switched to spin out to defend that choke it relieved no pressure. The tap out came almost immediately.
His chokes once sunk in can not be defended.. While he is at a clear disadvantage striking with one arm at a distance, everything in close is an advantage to Nick Newell ten fold with that hook elbow...
Like I said you can't even use under hooks or switches in the clinch. Body clinches don't even work with Nick. Watch all his fights and he clearly dominates them all in close.. Then just sub's them out.. It's a joke..
I would never fight the guy personally if I was trying to build a career in MMA.. UFC won't ever sign him either and he will always only fight in smaller venues just because it's such a feel good story and a good money draw for those venues..
I'm glad he's living his dream as a handicap and I'm not a hater.. I just feel sorry for the guys he's beating..
That's keeping it real..Last edited by JIBBBY; 08-11-13, 01:58 PM.Comment -

First of all, are you seriously arguing that Newell has an advantage because Caldwell couldn't spin out of a rear naked choke? Who spins out of a rear naked choke? At best you can rotate towards the choke to relieve pressure, and Newell's arm put him at no advantage there. Second of all, yes, you can underhook his left arm in the clinch. If anything, overhooking would be more of a problem. Third of all, how would having half an arm help him with throwing elbows? Look at how an elbow is executed. The arm is normally bent out of the way anyway.
Your argument is ridiculous.Comment -

#292Hey! Does anyone remember the Scottish karate dude who couldn't break a wooden board video. There was another video right after that of dorks pretending to fight during a karate demonstration. I can't find it in any of the threads! 10 SBR points and a much appreciated thanks to anyone who can guide me in the right direction.Comment -

#296Oh well, that's not your fault. I can only give you 2 a day (I'm not a pro). I gave you one already for a different post. So I can give you 1 now and 9 more over the next 5 days. For 11 total.

#299JIBBBY, it is pretty hard for people to argue seriously with you, when you are arguing that in a sport where a significant part of the sport includes putting your hands on people, that it's an advantage to ...not have a hand. This is like a Monty python sketch.Comment -

#300Sheik, having no hand to fight with is a disadvantage but if you were born with no hand you adapt and become very skilled with that one good arm and the half of the other. You have a life time to figure out what works..
In the clinch or on the mat I really think Nick has the element of surprise and the upper hand.. Outside striking he is at a big disadvantage with only one long arm to strike with..
The guy keeps winning because of his half arm hook is all I'm saying.. He's adapted his style to win and that is impressive.. It just gets the fighters he's fighting guessing and very confused.. It's not like fighting a 2 armed fighter that's for sure..
Matt Hamill being deaf or that fighter a while back with only one peck muscle I have no problem with..Comment -

#302Just offering up an opinion on the one nub wonder..
In other news - Sprong looked beatable in his fight last night. Kinda surprised to see that as he was really struggling at the end of the 2nd round.. That 8-1 odds was almost looking good for a few seconds..
I like WSOF almost as much as Bellator.. Looking forward to the next card and show now..

Damn, I know some black men are packing in the junk department but come on..... That could certainly cause an eye poke if he's sporting tent in the cage off the octagon ring girls.. Hmmm?.. Point deductions for sure.. Disadvantage perhaps...
Then again - The tripod effect could help with his suspect take down defense.. Also it would be damn hard for someone to ground and pound his ass from the top position sporting wood..

If I were a big fat idiot like you, I'd probably ask "Why is this guy going on his morning run in the afternoon, wouldn't that make it an afternoon run?" Fortunately, I am not a big fat idiot like you. I understand there are different time zones.
Keep embarrassing yourself you big fat idiot, nice of you to post a video of your utter failure in advanceComment
