    Forrest Griffin retires....
So now that he's retired, one must ask, is he a Hall of Famer?

Lets take a look at his career, shall we?

    Biggest can ever? Check.
Was he in the worst fight ever vs Bonnar? Check (somehow two cans with no power or skill is the best fight ever according to UFC fans.)
Ran out the ring and cried into the locker room (3 times vs Jardine, anderson, and tito). the judges felt so bad for him that they robbed tito and gave forrest the decision
    Beat Shogun.
Beat Rampage (bad decision, but still funny).
Rashad dribbled his head on the ground like a basketball? Check
Great performance vs Anderson, and proved in the rematch vs Shogun that it wasn't a fluke

    great career!

Obviously Pouyasophy is trolling as always, but people who aren't trolling are seriously trying to revise history here.

He beat Rampage, he crushed Shogun, he was winning the Rashad fight clearly before he got caught, he beat Franklin, he beat Ortiz back when beating Ortiz mattered (and again when it didn't), beat Sonnen. He has wins over the second best middleweight of all time, one of the top ten middleweights of all time, three of the top ten light heavyweight's of all time, and, as if he needed more of a resume, he was the light heavyweight champion and his fight with Bonnar propelled the UFC into the mainstream.

What more does someone have to do to get into the UFC hall of fame?

This was exactly what I was going to post. I know Forrest has looked like a glass jawed goofus multiple times, but his fight with Bonnar is what got people talking about the UFC. Granted the UFC was around long before those guys ever clashed, but that fight being what it was is what brought in the casual fans that the UFC was looking for. Not to mention his 10-5 UFC record is reputable.

does anyome give 2 shits about the UFC Hall of Fame anyways? doesnt feel prestigious by any means...w/ that being said, Forrest was def. not the biggest can ever...thats flat out retardation...dude finished Shogun and took Rampages belt in a close entertaining fight...he deserves credit...dude wasnt elite but he was def. an overachiever and proved many naysayers wrong...and no, Griffin v. Bonnar I was not the worst fight ever, it was a classic...everyone loves a good brawl...no need to be a MMA snob...you can appreciate the most technical of fights while still enjoying a good old fashioned slobber knocker...that fight was a benchmark in UFC history and it didnt only appeal to just bleed douch bag fans...everyone enjoyed that fight maybe except for the most jaded beard stroking elitists...that fight played a major role in why the majority of you even watch MMA at this point so i think the guys involved deserve the recognition for it...if that means UFC Hall of Fame then so be it, like i said nobody really cares about that anyways so its not a big deal

This is not a "MMA Hall of Fame", it is a "UFC Hall of Fame".

Forrest, arguably, may not belong in the former, but he certainly belongs in the latter.

This was supposed to be a joke thread. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who ACTUALLY think Forrest belongs in the Hall of Fame. I understand he's a tough guy but he lost all 3 Tito fights, the Rampage fight, and was lucky he fought Shogun on one knee. The guy is tough, but I have more talent than him. The guy is a joke and probably should've never even been in the UFC if it weren't for the lack of talent on the UFC roster and a refusal to sign the Pride guys when they were still the better organization.

I have a close group of about a dozen friends who are fairly educated on the sport of MMA, and if I told them that I was having a serious discussion about whether or not Forrest should be a hall of famer, they'd start cracking up. Forrest Griffin? FORREST GRIFFIN?!

Yeah key point here though, is this is not an "MMA Hall of Fame", it is a "UFC Hall of Fame",

Do you have any idea how much money and publicity the UFC got from Forrest? There is a reason that they are setting him up with a cushy job for life. This has nothing to do with an impartial third party hall of fame honoring athleticism and sports accomplishments, this is all business.

He shouldn't be a UFC hall of famer either...Chris Lytle, Sean Sherk, Kenny Florian, all had better careers and had a speck of athleticism, and they aren't going into the HOF. Tim Sylvia and Frank Mir also had better careers.

The problem with your debate are that these guys see a win on a record and run with it like fools. Rampage said he didn't even train for their title fight and that was another joke of a decision to take away his title like that. Only win i ever respected was the Shogun one and we all know Shogun was a shell of himself for that fight. If MMA grew because of his fight with Bonnar than it grew from guys who know nothing about talent. It grew with me because of Royce Gracie and Ju Jitz and not because of two bar fighters who impress people because they beat the shit out of each other. Hall of fame use to mean one of the best in your field. Carmont is making a run at the hall of fame also. He just won two back to back fights where he actually lost but to these guys a win is a win.

Griffin might just be the GOAT in MMA. He was the first to develop his style of fighting and set it up for generations to come. The way he made his body compared to his fighting style was revolutionary. His style just has him scoring points, hitting people with very light punches and kicks using speed. His body on the other hand was made muscular and big. He was walking around at 240 pounds, but instead of trying to become faster and leaner he developed his own style. He was the first points fighter of all his time to become big, lose speed and focus primarily on hitting his opponents with light kicks and punches.

Without Griffin's style being showcased by the UFC no one would ever know what a big and slow points fighter would bring to the table. Now thanks to Griffin everyone knows the style and can decide for themselves if it is the correct style for them.
