Fitch is a decent fighter and he has skills no doubt. I don't agree with him being cut... but..... I agree with Kermit here. No surprise to me that he was cut... I believe there will be more cuts to come very soon. Clay Guida, Volkmann, Sonnen, Etc. are next....I think his age played a big factor in this decision, not his last loss to Maia... Fitch hasn't exactly been a fan favorite in his UFC career.. He has been to 11 decisions in his last 12 fights, with the only exception being Fitch getting KTFO by Hendricks. He impressed me against Silva, but that is his only fight where I was like, damn Fitch is a beast! Dude has been remarkably unimpressive throughout his last 5-6 years in the UFC. His decision skills along with his old age is the reason he was cut. Now someone tell Dana is cut Guida's bitchass! How the hell do they cut Fitch, but not Guida...

I think Sonnen will have a career with the UFC long after his fighting career is over though. He is somewhat of a douchebag, but the guy knows the business and he is a great marketing tool for the UFC. And I have to admit, he is pretty funny.

Very good point.. Although I see his future in the organization as more of a spokesman/TV dude, rather than an actual fighter.. After he gets streamrolled by Jones, I think he has maybe one or two more fights max, then he will be ringside or doing commerials for Gillette. The dude's mouth can only get him so far, and after awhile people (fans) will grow tired of his antics, no matter how amusing. People will want something/someone new.

I agree with you that his future is in announcing, but to be fair to Chael, his run at 185 was nothing short of spectacular and it easily cemented him as one of the best 185ers ever to compete in the sport. Certainly top 10, arguably top 5.
