Very nice, Arky. And you're right.

Trump made a campaign promise. Very easy to take the votes and then say "I'm too busy" once he gets into office.

I saw that picture of all the presidential orders on his desk. He has seemingly been quite productive in the first few days of his term.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

A little bit torn about that one.

Ross went a bit bonkers in the end with hiring hitmen etc. He only wasn't pursued for those crimes due to these sentences.

I agree the term was over the top for the charges used. And I don't think he went into it with bad criminal intentions to deserve the book being thrown at him.

But sheesh. Saying you are pardoning someone because their mother campaigned for your election just doesn't seem right if I believe no one is above the law and political favors are bad.

I found this article from Wired where the email back-and-forths between Ulbricht and a Hell's Angle setting up the hits very interesting.

On the surface, it doesn't compute. I always thoght of Ulbricht as having a libertarian/non-violent/Mises economy type of ideology. In short, he was a hippie making money. Can't say whether these emails are truthful or manufactured but they were allowed to be read in court. I've learned some agencies are not above building an elaborate framework on someone if they choose to go into full entrapment mode. If you want to smear someone, painting them as a murderer will do just fine.

However, one paragraph from the article reports this:

"Ulbricht, who the prosecutors have sought to prove is that Dread Pirate Roberts, hasn't been charged with murder-for-hire in his Southern District of New York case, though he faces charges that include conspiracies to sell narcotics, launder money and more. (He does, however, face murder-for-hire charges in a separate case in Baltimore.) In fact, the prosecution admitted in court that the purported victims of the Silk Road killings were never found, and that Canadian police couldn't even locate records for anyone with their names. (Ulbricht's defense attorneys declined WIRED's request for comment on the message log, saying they'll respond on the trial's closing arguments.)".

I would like to see how this was addressed in the closing arguments. But who knows? Pretty cold-blooded if true.

As for Trump, he probably could've said what he said a little better...

I felt the same thing as you with the hitman. But then I read that 3 different people posted under the handle Dread Pirate Roberts at one time or another. I don't know what's true but if I were to guess, Ulbricht didn't order the hit. I read DM communication so he either did go bonkers or someone else did it. They talked about just roughing the guy up or killing him in the DM. At the end, he said just kill him.

Donald Trump Bans CBDC Development in the U.S.
In addition to the CBDC ban, the executive orders outline a comprehensive strategy for fostering cryptocurrency adoption and innovation in the U.S.:
            1. Fair Crypto Regulations: The orders mandate the creation of clear and balanced regulatory frameworks to support the growth of the digital asset industry while protecting investors and ensuring market stability.
            2. Promoting Bitcoin: Trump has directed agencies to promote Bitcoin as a foundational element of the nation’s digital economy, signaling a strong endorsement of the world’s largest cryptocurrency.
            3. National Digital Asset Stockpile: Another key aspect of the orders is the establishment of a strategic digital asset reserve. This initiative aims to secure the U.S. position in the global financial system by stockpiling critical digital assets and leveraging blockchain technology for economic strength.

Past time. I sold mine for $31 (bought $32) before Xmas.

Buying back at 18 now would be ideal if I really had any faith left in it

Got a bit invested in Bitcoin. Gonna leave it alone for a few years.

I also got maybe 10 different investments in smaller crypto (in one or two cent crypto) hoping one will pop in the future! One has begun maybe already?/ SWFTCOIN .. It's down today but has been climbing in the past.

I meant the day before during the crash.

The cryptocurrency market suffered a sell-off in the last 24 hours, wiping out $2.29 billion in liquidations — more than the Covid crash and the FTX collapse.According to CoinGlass data, 733,974 traders were liquidated in the past day, with $1.89 billion coming from long positions, making up 82.73% of total liquidations.

Liquidation in futures trading occurs when a trader's position is forcibly closed due to insufficient margin to cover losses. Long positions bet on an asset's price increasing, while short positions profit from price declines. When prices move against a trader's position, exchanges liquidate holdings to prevent further losses.
The largest single liquidation order took place on HTX, where a BTC-USDT trade worth $38.78 million was wiped out.
Bitcoin dropped 2.24%, trading at $95,000, while Ethereum plunged 14%. Major altcoins, including XRP, Solana, and Binance Coin, also fell between 10-15% amid the broader market downturn.
During the Covid-19 crash on March 13, 2020, the global crypto market saw its worst-ever single-day correction, plunging 39.6%. The total market capitalization dropped from $223.74 billion to $135.14 billion overnight. Bitcoin also recorded its biggest price decline of -35.2%, while Ethereum suffered an even steeper drop of -43.1% in the same period. The crash was triggered by widespread panic selling as investors fled risk assets amid global uncertainty.

Ethereum has competition, Solana, Cardano, Avalanche. Value of ETH down.
The only reason Ethereum was at an all time high in 2021 is because of the NFT bull market.
Most of all the new NFTs moved to Solana network instead of Ethereum network.

                                      "Why have a trade war?

Jeff Park, head of alpha strategies at financial services firm BitWise, believes the strategy aims to weaken the US dollar in international trade to correct trade imbalances and make US exports more attractive.

He predicted the trade war would send "Bitcoin violently higher." But, so far, the tariffs have caused the dollar to rise, and this morning’s deals with Mexico and Canada suggest it may just be a negotiating tactic.

Polymarket now has 80% odds Mexico's tariffs will be removed by May."

Thought it was an interesting theory about "why", but even more interesting what he thinks will happen to BTC price if a trade war did emerge.

Hi, Opti. I'm not smart enough to agree or dis-agree with Park.

But I will say that I've watched about three interviews with Park. He's a very bright guy. I picked up on some Bitcoin trends that I wasn't aware of.

If the trade war heats up, bitcoin could grow as people move their money into alternative assets. The real question is—how long can that growth last?

The Bitcoin price went up > 40% in the late months of 2024. I think there was some profit-taking. After 12/31, people need to build up some cash to pay Year-end taxes.

Think the trend has to be UP. We're @ $96,000 right now. +25% to $120,000 by 7/1 sounds very doable.

Was able to double initial investment already. I think bitcoin trades in ranges and it is tied now to the stockmarket news of the day whereas 5-10 years ago it wasn't following the markets.

Only outcome I see for 2025 = rising price. Feel like Gold and Silver will also do well in 2025.
