#5468It's really everyone. I think the bitcoin forum started in 2014. I can't remember any BS. Not only is Optional doing a great job but it's self moderated. Trouble is squashed by all.Comment -

#5473The real question is are you here to make interest on your money or to find a gem.
People keep saying btc btc btc... If you got in sub 20k it's a good hold. If you can hold for another 2 years without worrying about price swings it's a good hold.
Btc can drop back down to 25k~ before seeing a new ath. And there is no problem with that the big boys know even at 25k btc is very bullish. You won't get rich off btc anymore though.
It's all about finding the little gems if your trying to hit a lotto ticket in the crypto game.Comment -

#5480You can. And it's not either or.... there's all sorts of shades of grey.
I think I read where Michael Saylor said the other day, "never sell your Bitcoin". Don't know if I'm 100% with that but it does make sense.
I prefer hodling "good" crypto. I can wait till the cows come home. I'm more than likely going to buy into a newcomer in the top 20 than to go for a longshot but that is just me. However, I do have a stake in several coins outside the top 20. Some of the "old" coins in the top 20 might have their best days behind them....
One can day trade and hop between coins but that takes a lot of time and study. Some of the OG's I follow do not recommend this - especially for newcomers. Hodling is the safe play...... less emotional, less panic, lazy, low blood pressure way to invest. Stack and forget.
But if you're making money, it's all good...Comment -

But if you're making money, it's all good...
There are many small cap coins, without anything going other than a huge following, that will make millionaires and keep compounding it. Look at etherscan and you can see all the holdings of each person on the ETH chain. You'll find a lot with the SHIB's of the world. But who wants to say buy SHIB. They will look awful if it tanks.
But as you said, there are all shades of grey. What works for one may not work for another.Last edited by raiders72001; 11-17-21, 07:58 PM.Comment -

#5484When someone wins, another person loses. I agree with you that it's not a good idea for a new person to day trade and play small cap since it's too emotional. A YouTuber with 1m views will never stick his neck out on a coin such as DOGE. A lot of them are condescending to those that do buy DOGE.

My holding is red as I got in late but I am willing to wait to it out....
Point is, I'd rather invest in SHIB than MyneighborAlice (#178).Comment -

Bitcoin vs Gold debate.
Think about it:
*Would you feel good about paying an Advisor 2% per year to tell you to invest in an asset that's been mostly Flat? Meanwhile, you could do many times better by investing in the most basic of Index Funds? Oh yeah, you could have gotten +180% annualized returns over L7 years...but he doesn't like that.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

There's nothing wrong with speculating on a brand new potential 1000x. Just, make sure you have the mindset that it could fail. I went through the ICO craze of 2017/early 2018 and it left a bad taste in my mouth..... Guys would come on this forum pumping the next can't-miss-coin and say it "should 10x easy" when they didn't have a clue.... Everything looks good in a bull market... Just about all of them failed....
Edit: The above taught me to go for coins that had staying power. New coins come and go - they spike up then they spike down and then you never see them again. On very rare occasion, they rise again. I'm attracted to the ones that stick around....Last edited by Arky; 11-18-21, 02:19 AM.Comment -

#5494That crash in 2018 definitely hurt. At least I didn't get caught up in the ICO's. I played it a lot safer back then although that didn't mean much.
Take the top 25 today, add THETA, ELROND, MANA, SAND, ATOM, TRX. Of those 31, only 15-20 will be relevant next time around. The rest become irrelevant either by a major drop or cease to exist.
BTC, ETH, ADA, XRP, BNB will still be around but the same can't be said about the rest. XRP has way too much money and connections to be stopped. The others are good projects that will knock off some other good projects.Last edited by raiders72001; 11-18-21, 04:15 AM.Comment -
