    Coinbase and Blockchain questions
Wow! I finally decided try this out.

That coinbase when it asked to link bank account, it said they would verify using something called Plaid, then after i selected my Bank, a pop-up came on screen and wanted me enter my account/handle and pw. Oh, hell no. I aint giving my banking handle and pw. So i back out and then it gives option for manually, and i give the routing and acct number, now i have wait for 2 micro deposits and go back to verify in a few days.

Now to blockchain. This place wanted access to my laptops camera and microphone. I generally have everything blocked for my camera and mic. Then it wanted me aline my face inside a oval and take a pic, and then i needed a gov issued ID and take front and back pics of that.
That's too much. Has to be an easier way to verify I am who I say I am.

Also, i thought it was odd that when coinbase needed verify my phone and sent me a code, apparently the number it came from is same as Microsoft Rewards number. I had a few older texts from same 6 digit number from back in 2018

You do not even need to give Blockchain.com/wallet your name, or any other information.

Sounds like you have managed to start signing up for a third party exchanger service you saw there.

1000s of SBR member have managed to signup to Blockchain wallet without any confusion. Not sure how you manged this.

And many people have used the plaid verification service to get instant approval to use Coinbase. Fine to choose to do it manually if you wish, but most people who are worried simply change banking password afterward.

Coinbase is OK but don't be surprised if they want additional KYC with a webcam. They lost me when they requested that I submit more KYC via webcam after 3 years of being a member. I don't own a webcam and frankly, I didn't want to jump through hoops for them. I use Gemini these days.

As for Blockchain, sounds like you started the sign up process for buying and selling. You don't need to do that if you just want a "web wallet". I'm a PC kinda guy and use a desktop wallet instead of web wallet. I like the Exodus.io wallet for desktop - some people like Electrum. If you're a smart phone person, then there are plenty of options there, too...

Could be a phishing site. It's not that uncommon with bitcoin wallets.

I was on blockchain.com , i just double-checked. has a welcome screen and in top right has a sign-uo or log-in buttons, and down on screen it has on left side get free acct, and on right side it says get a wallet. Whether i choose get a wallet, or to sign-up in top right corner, it takes me to a create a wallet screen, then i give email, make a pw, confirm pw, then after that i continued it went to stuff about needing access to my camera and mic and to take a pic of myself and then scan a gov issue ID front and back, and it would use AI to verify me and blah blah blah.

But I just went back through the steps and i guess it's set up after the simple email confirm by following the link. All the documents and scanning must be needed for gold profile. I just seen a big green button and it saying i need to "complete my profile now." I guess that is not needed. It misleading cause of big green button and alluding to I need finish my profile in order to do anything.
But I guess i'm good to go after i get these micro deposits at my bank from coinbase. Then i just buy bitcoin(and it is bitcoin and not bitcoin cash) and from there i use blockchain to request from coinbase and then use blockchain to send.

It sounds like they have made their signup process a bit trickier than it used to be. I'll go try it so I know for the future.

You obtain a receive address from your blockchain wallet, then go back to Coinbase and use it as the withdraw address on their site.

Then you obtain a deposit address from your book and go back to the blockcahin wallet and send it to that address from there.
