I am not receiving my authorization email from blockchain.com | Hushmail
Does anybody else with an email account at Hushmail.com not receive the authorisation email from Blockchain.com currently?

I've been waiting for 2 days. I've already checked with both the Hushmail and the Blockchain support. Both say 'there is no problem from our side'.

It's the first time the email is delayed for such a long time.

Try asking for 2FA to be taken off. They still have to send an email for you to verify that you want to take the 2FA off but it may go through to your email. Then you can put it back on where it requires 2FA email verification. Seems strange that it would work but it has worked in the past.

That's what the Blockchain support told me to do. But they said it would take 7-31 days until I would regain access to my wallet.

Indeed, it's strange. It has been working for more than 2 years without any major issues. Just one incident where I had to wait a couple of hours for the email. But not 2 days, soon 3 days.

I still hope I'll receive the email. Just wondered if anyone else with a Hushmail account experienced problems of that kind before.

Download electrum.org wallet and use your blockchain 12 word phrase to recreate the wallet and you will get access back now.

Let me know if you want me to find the thread where I posted step by step instructions?

          Found the instructions.

Run the Electrum software and it will ask you to create a new wallet.

          • type in a name or leave it as default_wallet and click next
          • select Standard Wallet and click next
          • select "I already have a seed" and click next
          • enter the 12 word seed phrase from your old blockchain wallet in the box then click OPTIONS.
          • tick the box that says "Bip39 Seed" and click ok. Then click next
          • leave Derivation box as is and click Next
          • You can choose a password to encrypt the wallet (that you have to enter each time you open it) or leave fields blank for no password to open wallet. Then click next.

You should now see the wallet generate itself and sync with your old blockchain wallet and all your old transactions will appear
          .

That's a good method, I didn't even think of that. He could also use the 12 word phrase to create a new blockchain wallet identical to the old one https://login.blockchain.com/#/recover.

I followed your instructions but apparently it didn't work. The transactions field is blank and the balance is 0. BTC

Maybe I have to choose "Wallet with two-factor authentication"?

Or maybe I have to change the script type to p2pkh? I think the addresses in the originating wallet began with a '1'

I am not sure. I guess if it did have 2FA enabled that option is worth a try.

It should be set to legacy by default... but yes change it to that if it is not set already. Thats a new step since I wrote the steps.

If you are not seeing your old wallet transactions in there after trying all that, there is a big chance that you have entered the wrong seed phrase or spelled a word wrong

That solved it! Thank you Opti

It was set to native segwit by default:

                        Great news!

Electrum does pretty much everything a btc wallet can do. So it seems a bit complex compared to others at first. And there is quite a few options you can change to suit how you view things. But it is way more reliable than anything like blockchain.com or the bitcoin.com wallets, that rely on a server owned by the software maker.

Would you recommend to change the seed now that it has been 'exposed'?

Someone in the BCT forum recommended it but I'm not sure if he really knows what he's talking about: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?to...23#msg52469723

I have seen experts say if you generate a second wallet interface like you have here, that it is less secure.

But I think that's mostly just because there is now two routes for an attacker to try and compromise it if they tried.

If you are just using this wallet as a transfer point that never holds btc for too long, it probably does not matter too much really. Plus it is handy to be able to use blockchain.com for the same wallet if you dont have your electrum device handy.

If you are holding funds in the wallet, then yes, I'd create a second new electrum wallet just to be sure. Do it on a thumb drive that you can remove from anything online is an extra safe way.

(when you start the electrum software just type a new wallet name in the box and do the setup again to make a 2nd wallet)
