Yes they are legit. Legally licensed in the USA.

If you wish to use a crdt card to purchase Coinbase is the best choice. But if using ACH bank account transfers to/from a US bank account then Gemini.com is probably a better choice. Same service type, but cheaper fees and better customer service.

My answer would be "kinda" they aren't going to steal your money (directly) but if you have any problems you can't call them and they will take a month to respond to an email. I would use Itbit or Kraken.

One that can transfer to your bank in your local currency to avoid additional currency exchange fees.

Search for 'bitcoin exchange country', find a couple then ask about the specific names I think is best way to get info.

I believe Coinbase does not support local bank transfers for Canada any more. So has become a bit expensive. I would listen to the locals who say Quadriga is the best.
