As most of you know, Tuesday morning Bitcoin forks into two coins: BTC, as I type this trading about $2850, and BCC, currently trading on futures markets at about $300.

What's your guess as to the value of BTC and BCC as of 8pm Tuesday, 12 hours after the split?

And no worries if you're way off; anybody who's never looked stupid making a crypto prediction hasn't been at it very long.

With that in mind, I'll guess $2500 BTC, $100 BCC.

Solid guesses, both. You and I are equally bearish on BCC. My thinking is a flood of people who don't know or care about BCC are about to become owners and just say, "to hell w/ whatever this is, how much BTC can I get for it?" Is that your thought process, as well?

I do, but you're not gonna like it because it's mushy. Ready? OK, here's the deal: 8:20am EST is the "magic moment."

BUT the photo won't be taken until the first block greater than 1 mb is actually mined. For technical reasons I was told I wouldn't care about, this can't happen until at least the 7th block mined after 8:20am. Worse, it might not happen for many blocks past the 7th, depending on the amount of hashrate that actually jumps over to BCC and whether they immediately take advantage of the larger block sizes.

Clear as mud, right? My feelings exactly. So, in layman's terms we're looking at any time from 8:21am EST to, possibly, up to a couple hours after 8:21am EST.

New question when it exactly happens will it be obvious? What WEB site,live chat, twitter feed to monitor ?, TWEETS and things so a customer knows exactly when its down and can start moving as they choose???

At 8:20 EST the starting gun is fired, but the 'magic moment' isn't until at least the 7th block mined AFTER 8:20am, provided that block is greater than 1 mb. If it isn't, the 'photo' doesn't get taken until we get a block that IS bigger than 1mb. I think that'll happen before 9, but plenty of people at reddit and 4chan (possibly mischief makers and/or segwit supporters) are predicting it'll take hours, owing to the fact no hashing power will go with the new coin. exchanges in the 2765 range

does that makes sense as far as predictions on what is going to happen to values

the new coin on exchanges that gave the tokens away yesterday up some from lows at a really legit 0.158 of a BTC (granted BTc has dropped some overnight).

So far, the most surprising thing to me is how little the prices are jumping around. Maybe that'll change, who knows, but so far it hasn't really been any different from any other Tues morning(!)

Wait, did it? Where? Today's block chain is super slow. We're only on the 2nd block past the starting gun. BCC's only earning 2% of the global hash rate, so this could take a while -- an hour or two; wait, do I have time for a nap? nah, prob not.

TTT'S totally right, the fork is official. The 'snapshot' has been taken. Anyone who wants to can now sell their btc without losing their bcc.
