Not even a single confirmation. How long does this typically take?

Confirmations can take anywhere from minutes to hours to (rarely) days. The speed's dependent on the congestion of the blockchain and the fees you or your wallet included with your transaction. If you want fast confirmations, this site's awesome: http://bitcoinfees.21.co/

As a general rule, 400 satoshis per byte should get you fast confirmations (a satoshi is the 8th decimal place of a bitcoin). 200 sats per byte usually gets confirmations in an hour. Less than that and you can get 'stuck' for hours or days.

If your wallet's choosing your fees and doing a crummy job of it, you might want to consider opening a wallet at a place where you can pick the fees yourself. Blockchain.info is a place like that.

Yup...not just fairlay...sent 300 to Nitrogen 3 hrs ago & not one confirmation either. Paid the lowest fees (17 cents or so). Had no idea it would take this long. Used to be quick.

Bitcoin sucks. It's quicker to do money transfer. That's what I've been using lately.

you are very lucky that the blockchain is not overwhelmed and not many unconfirmed transactions or it would of taken much more time or possibly even returned

Yeah, since you've been away, BTC's had ever increasing scalability problems that have caused increasing wait times and higher fees. Trying to solve those problems has just created more problems by igniting a a civil war within the Bitcoin community: Bitcoin Unlimited supporters (including me) vs SegWit2x supporters vs BIP148 fans.

It's chaos, and it's going to get worse before it gets better. August 1st might be Doomsday: https://coinjournal.net/bitcoin-now-...d-chain-split/
