You buy your bitcoin after the deposit gets made.

If you want to get around coinbase fees just use their exchange GDAX. If you have coinbase you have access to it. No CC deposit and $10,000 daily withdrawal limit but there is no fee if you are the maker.

With some banks the micro deposits used to verify ownership don't seem to work with all banks and/or card types.
