There were 4-5 strikes at critical junctures
which the Ump called as balls.
You think baseball is safer against this crap
but it's not always.

With the technology available today why not let a computer call balls and strikes?

I had a few units on Cardinals ML and was watching the gamecast on my phone and watching the pitches come in the very center of the strike zone and come up as balls. I was wondering if the computer was off or if they were just getting dicked at a critical juncture in the game. Nice to know.

These bad calls totally throw pitchers off their game. I was on a game a few weeks ago where a pitch right down the middle of the plate was called a ball. If it was called a strike it would have been two out with nobody on base. The bad call seemed to rattle the pitcher so much that he suddenly lost it. He loaded the bases on three straight walks and allowed a grand slam, all without retiring a batter. So, that one call was the difference between two out and nobody on and the pitcher giving up four runs all with one out.

I completely agree with you here snowball, (as usual) organized sports as random as they may seem with all the players involved, coaching, still has a small % of "control" that can be utilized in "big games" (sunday night games/single day games,) ur either believe that their is some corruption or believe that all these calls were "misinterptations" but doesnt change the fact of where these balls and strikes landed,
PS addition: 100% agreed with cleveland that these calls have a PROFOUND effect on pitchers pysche, difference between an 1-1 count and 0-2 count is......

I'm glad to see you all agree with me. It was obvious.
The announcers aren't going to say anything about it.
But it was plain to see. It allowed the Reds to advance runners
and put pressure on Cardinal pitching that shouldn't have been there.
I agree that with today's tech there is no reason for any Umps.
just have one Ump manage the game rules and let the computers do the rest.
But, of course there are "interests" at stake.

I was just talking about the ump behind the plate. Do you think a computer could handle the calls at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and the outfield?

Can't imagine the cardinals losing 3+ games in a row, I would chase until it hits this series, noway it goes to a 6 game skid IMO.

Joe West was horrid. Several pitches right down the middle that he called balls. He might have vision problems.

i hate it when they call a strike and the next time on the same exact spot call a ball depending on the situation. trying to make the game more exciting. that shit throws the pitcher totally off his game

You've got to have confidence that if you place a pitch in a certain spot it will be called a strike. Without that, what have you got?
