They now have the best record in baseball. Pitching obviously isnt as strong as some other teams out there but their lineup is definatly solid. Postseason rotation will be tough for them against a team like yankees or TB, but if they get homefield advantage, they will be tough as they are 52-25 at home. Thoughts?

#2i'm sure the guy that feels the worst is Justin Morneau. i wonder how he feels. the day he gets injured, MIN never loses another game. he must feel like crap. he probably feels they don't need him. that they are better without him.
i will lay odds that he is hoping they get swept right away..Comment -

#14maybe not the best, but what they have done this season without their 2 former mvps for stretches and losing their closer before the season is pretty damn impressive. gardenhire is manager of year.Comment -

#18im a twins fan, i hope they get the yankees in the first round this year, i know theyve gotten CRUSHED by them in the playoffs in past years but i think this team is ready and has enough to get past them in the best of 5 rather than have to grind it out in a 7 game seriesComment -

#23the winner of the AL EAST is the best team and that's looking like the Rays. Minnesota doesn't have to play teams like the Red Sox and Yanks 38 games a year. Instead they play the White Sox and Tigers, 38 times a year and last time I checked, the Tigers were below .500.Comment -

#27some people might say that there are 1 or 2 better teams in their division. im not one of those people but the wsox or the tigers can beat them on a given day and id take em with the right odds.Comment -

#32My point is exactly what I posted, you said the Tigers were under .500 and they are not, they are now three games over. I'm not arguing that the AL Central is better than the AL East, clearly it's not.Comment -

#33As with most of the other posters, I have to say I really respect what the Twins have done. The really appear to be a class organization and to have done it continuously for so many years one could make an argument that they are or should be the model franchise for all of baseball. Doing what they have this year minus Morneau for the second half of the year and without Nathan all year only makes it more impressive.
That being said just because they have the best record in 2010 does not make them the best team. This is due to scheduling and talent levels in each division. It is simply so strong in the AL East that you have to conclude that the Yankees and Rays are better teams.
When it gets playoff time anything can happen but the general rule of thumb is top end pitching wins titles. The Rays and Yankees certainly have more talent in their top 3 or 4 rotation guys. The Rangers are somewhat interesting because of Lee but I don't see who else they have that puts them on par with the Rays and Yankees. In the NL, only the Phillies boast a solid top 3 and theirs may well be the best.
So to summarize, I would be very, very surprised if the World Series winner was not the Rays or the Yankees or the Phillies. I'm not sure which of those 3 is best. I would put the Rays a bit behind due to lack of offense. Beyond that I do prefer the Twins and Rangers to any other NL teams.Comment -
