10 straight seasons with 200+ hits and no press coverage. Apparently there isn't enough translators for the Japanese players.

Suzuki is straight Japanese. Of course, his culture is embedded in him. Loyalty (+ money) must have played a huge role in his decision. Hands down, he's my favorite baseball player.
Unless he gets caught with gambling like Pete Rose or with HGH like many players, it'll be very very difficult for him to be an HOF. I don't think he neither does both. The guy is skinny. Wait, he's a skinny guy with power. He could do 40+ homers per season if he wanted to. Enough said.

Ichiro only scored 70 runs this season. He'd gets on base and get stranded or rolled on the double play.

wouldn't matter if he had zero infield hits. he has been fortunate to stay healthy, have the legs for a few extra hits here and there, great bat control, play in a nobody gives a shit media city, and lead off getting so many more at bats. for me i love that he plays every game and his defense is rock solid day in and day out.

Hall of famer no doubt. Only weakness is his lack of power and relatively low walk totals. However a great fielder, brilliant hitter, and from what I see an awesome teammate.

Won't happen. Seattle has a lot more Japanese fans/culture than most places in the US. They will keep him til he retires for ticket sales by giving him contracts he won't be able to refuse.
It would've been cool to see how many career hits he would have by now if he didn't start his career over here so late

It doesn't make sense for Ichiro to leave, the Mariners are one of the most popular teams over in Japan. back in 01 they had him and Kazuhiro Sasaki and the Mariners had more japanese fans than american ones
