So I went 4-2 on my bets for Tuesday (8/23) and here are some more plays for this coming Wednesday. Unfortunately I titled the article for Monday even though it was meant for Tuesday.

But nonetheless, my posts are about substance and not "fluff"....so here we go:
1) Phillies (-1.5) over Astros: No brainer pick here. COming off a tough 16 inning loss to a terrible Astro team expect Halladay to get things back on track by pitching a complete game and give that bullpen a rest. His opponent however, J.A. Happ, is no slouch. Happ has pitched real well for Houston since being dealt by Philadelphia in the Oswalt trade...this could be a 2-1, 2-0. 3-1 or 3-2 type game for Phillies which finishes in 2.5 hours time.
2) Cubs (-1.5) over Nationals: No more Lou Pinella means the Cubs might have something to play for since their skipper walked out on them. It's called "pride". The will try to salvage what is left of a very dissappointing 2010 year and should go on a decent mini-run inder their new interim manager. Dempster on the mound and a hot Aramis Ramirez, Tyler Colvin and Sterlin Castro should do the trick.
3) Red Sox (-1.5) over Mariners (Game 1): Josh Beckett has been struggling since coming off the DL but expect him to bounce back and pitch strong at home in game 1 of this double header. Seattle's offense is terrible and Beckett hasn't pitched all that bad despite his lack of wins so far since coming back. Game 2 feature King Felix on the mound for Seattle...so game 1 is one that Boston should eye to take easily.
4) Cardinals (-1.5) over Pirates at Pitt: Cardinals have been in a tail spin and costing bettors a lot of money losing to terrible teams and last night's loss 4-3 to Pirates was no exception. But hey...it's gotta end soon right? Expect them to tee off against Jeff Karstens, whom even the lowly Mets were able to knock around for 7 runs in less than 5 IP his last start, and even the series at 1-1 with Pittsburgh. Cardinals counter with Jake Westbrook who has had 4 straight quality starts since being trade from Cleveland.
UPSET SPECIAL: Brewers (-1.5) to cover vs. LA Dodgers: Randy Wolf is on the mound going against his former Dodger teammates. Wolf is 3-0 with a 2.67 ERA in his last four starts and will look to keep the Brewers in it until ther offense explodes.
