whats goin on LB..was wondering what your take on the cards-reds game was today. cards losing 5 in a row, reds winning 4 in a row...seems like the reds would be out for revenge after being embarrassed and swept last time they played, yet the books have st. louis favored (-135). early action was def. heavy on cincy, now seems like it has balanced out and the line really hasn't moved much at all...the cards are not going to get swept here at home, they will win one of these games...too pricey to go hard on the cards until they break this losing streak? i think this is the perfect spot to take them for a moderate sized wager...good price, good home pitcher in garcia, and a team that desperately needs to show some signs of life.

im on the cards for all those reasons.

If the Cardinals are going to make a run at the Reds in the N.L. Central it has to start tonight as they open a three-game set at home against the team that sits in first place. I’m going to play St. Louis behind the left arm of Jaime Garcia (12-6, 2.33 ERA).

I know the Cards have dropped five straight and eight of nine, but they are back home and should have a full stadium behind them for this series. St. Louis has won four in a row over the Reds this season and eight of the last 11. In early August they went to Cincinnati and swept the Reds to put their mark on the division, only to lose it all with this current slide.

Garcia is 5-3 at home this season, but his ERA is a stellar 1.55. He has not allowed an earned run in his last three outings and last pitched a week ago in Washington, blanking them for 5.1 innings and leading the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory. He’s made three starts against the Reds this season and the Cardinals have won all three. His lone home start against Cincinnati came on May 31 when he gave up two earned runs in six innings of a 12-4 blowout win.

Bronson Arroyo (14-8, 3.82 ERA) is on the bump for the Reds tonight and this guy has been knocked around a bit by the Cardinals this season. Back on August 11 he allowed four runs in five innings of a 6-1 loss and in St. Louis on May 31 he allowed seven runs in 4.1 innings of that 12-4 loss opposite Garcia. Cincinnati has dropped his last three visits to St. Louis.
