Maine has officially launched legal online sports betting, with the big kickoff coming on Nov. 3, 2023. According to the legislation, Maine sports betting can welcome up to four online sportsbooks, one for each native tribal group. Only two have launched so far: Caesars and DraftKings. These platforms bring their standard bonuses and promos to the state.
This page is your go-to source for all the latest ME sportsbook promos. We'll explain all the best bonuses and give you a heads-up on other potential deals. Plus, you'll get insights into how we weigh different sportsbook promos and some extra resources to keep you ahead of the game.

All Maine sportsbook promo codes and bonuses

Maine's sports betting legislation allows up to four online sportsbooks. The rules stipulate that each of the state's four federally recognized tribes (the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Miโ€™Kmak Nation, and Maliseetcan) can partner with one online operator. So, each tribe can roll out a single online betting operator.

Interestingly, three of the tribes have partnered with Caesars Sportsbook. The Passamaquoddy ended up partnering with DraftKings just days before legal sports betting launched.

What does this mean for Maine sports betting? We are currently looking at a Caesars and DraftKings duopoly. Industry big boys like FanDuel, BetMGM, and BetRivers may still vie for a spot. If they do try, they will have to flip one of the three tribes who have already chosen Caesars or attempt to replace DraftKings entirely.

Representatives of the Sports Betting Alliance, which boasts names like FanDuel, DraftKings, and Fanatics, hinted in June 2023 that they might skip Maine altogether. They suggested that the costs of licensing and revenue sharing would outweigh the benefits. However, with the market's potential, it's hard to imagine them ignoring it entirely. Obviously, DraftKings eventually shifted its position and entered the Maine market on Day One.

The final confirmation for Maine sportsbooks revealed only Caesars and DraftKings opening their virtual doors to customers.

DraftKings Maine welcome offer 👑

DraftKings is one of just two sportsbooks that launched in Maine on Nov. 3, 2023. They bring their standard bet $5, get $150 in bonus bets offer with them, giving new users some guaranteed bonus bets after any qualifying wager of $5 or more. You won't need a DraftKings promo code to activate this offer.

Additionally, new users can claim a 20% deposit bonus, up to $1,000.

DraftKings is regularly considered one of the best sportsbooks in the country, so Maine users can count themselves lucky to have it as an option. It boasts a premier mobile app, competitive betting odds and markets, and frequent ongoing promotions for existing users.

Caesars Maine welcome offer 🏛

Caesars is the only other legal online sportsbook to launch in Maine. Its welcome offer is different from DraftKings' and is one of the most unique in the nation. The sportsbook is offering new users 10 100% Profit Boosts just for placing a wager of $1. New users must use promo code SBRBONUSDYW to be eligible for the promo. A minimum deposit of $10 is required, and the Profit Boosts expire 14 days after receipt.

Caesars does occasionally switch up its deal. If it decides to change its Maine sign-up bonus, we'll let you know. In the meantime, you should check out our detailed Caesars review or our Caesars Sportsbook promo code page to learn more about this new Maine sportsbook.

How we rate and review sports betting promotions

Evaluating sportsbook welcome promotions isn't the same as rating the books themselves. It demands a much more nuanced approach. Some promotions are often designed to look more appealing than they are, so it takes a seasoned hand to sift through the fine print and discern the actual value of each offer.

Some bonuses are barely indistinguishable from one another at face value. It's tempting, and indeed mostly advisable, to claim as many as possible. Even still, knowing which Maine sportsbook promos have the most actual value is also an important factor.

Here's how we break it down:

True value over sheer size

The biggest bonus isn't necessarily the best. We dig deeper to understand the genuine potential of a promotion. For example, a hefty bonus with restrictive conditions might not hold up against a moderate, flexible one.

Validity period

A bonus's validity period can affect your betting strategy. For instance, a seven-day window might limit you to betting on a single week of NFL games, whereas a 14-day period offers you the flexibility to bet over two weekends. We weigh in on these timelines for better planning.

Minimum deposit or qualifying wager

We evaluate the initial financial commitment needed to unlock a bonus. Whether it's a minimum deposit or a specified wager amount, this factor can determine the accessibility of a bonus for different types of bettors.

Odds limitations

Some bonuses may restrict the odds you can bet on, either too high or too low. We scrutinize these limitations to ensure bettors get a good range of betting options that align with common betting strategies.

Market restrictions

Can the bonus be applied across all sports markets or only specific ones? A versatile bonus, applicable across various sports and events, usually offers better value.

Transparency

The terms and conditions should be clear and easy to understand. We give higher ratings to promotions with transparent terms that donโ€™t hide behind any confusing jargon.

Types of Maine sports betting sign-up offers and bonuses

Across the nation, sportsbooks typically oscillate between a few primary types of welcome bonuses. While the deposit matching bonus was once prevalent in online sports betting, it has now largely moved to online casinos. That leaves two dominant types of Maine sports betting promos for bettors to tap into:

First bet insurance

Essentially, this promo acts as a cushion for your initial bet. For example, you place a first bet for $50 on a Monday Night Football game, and your team doesn't come through. The sportsbook will then give you a bonus bet, often equivalent to your original wager, allowing you a "second chance" to bet and potentially win.

Bet and Get

As it says on the label, all you have to do to earn this bonus is make a qualifying bet. The initial wagering requirements are usually small, often just $5 or $10. Win or lose, you'll be credited some bonus bets.

These bonuses are great for a couple of reasons. First, they come with an extremely low initial risk. Second, they allow you to get a feel for the sportsbook as you use the bonus bets over the next week or two. And lastly, they provide you with a great chance to boost your bankroll without depositing more money.

Referral bonus

The promotions don't end once you've claimed a new customer bonus. Many of the best sportsbooks in Maine also offer generous referral bonuses.

Convince a friend to sign up and deposit using a unique download link, and you'll get a decent chunk of bonus bets or cashback as a thank-you present. You can check out our picks for the best sportsbook referral bonuses.

Latest Maine sports betting news

Legal sports betting has arrived in Maine! The launch happened on November 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. local time. However, some in-person retail locations, including Cumberland Fairgrounds and Favorites Off-Track Betting in Waterville, won't be ready on Day One. Due to relocations and renovations, they are eyeing a December 2023 or early 2024 opening.

The state's four indigenous tribes hold the exclusive rights for online wagering. Caesars Sportsbook, in alliance with three Maine tribes, was the first to confirm their launch in the state. DraftKings followed shortly afterward as the second Maine sportsbook. They were the only two operators who launched in Maine on the first day of legal sports betting.

Sports to bet on with Maine bonuses

It will come as no surprise to see a rather extensive list of major professional and amateur sports available to Maine bettors; here are the marquee sports on which they'll be able to wager:

NFL ๐Ÿˆ

Sports in these parts don't get much more marquee than football โ€“ and the sheer number of NFL betting opportunities will make Maine residents dizzy with delight. Every major sports betting site offers hundreds of wagering plays for every regular season and playoff game โ€“ culminating in a veritable buffet (yum!) of betting options for the Super Bowl.

NCAA Football ๐Ÿˆ

It might not have the same prestige as the NFL โ€“ or the number of betting markets, for that matter โ€“ but college football is still one of the most popular sports in North America from a wagering standpoint. Maine bettors have access to a 1-2 punch of basic betting markets (moneyline, spread, and O/U) and various team and other prop plays.

NBA ๐Ÿ€

What do Maine bettors do when the last football pass of the 2023-24 season has been thrown? Pivot to basketball, of course! Based on how enormous the NBA prop markets have become for the majority of major players in the U.S. sports betting space, Maine wagerers have plenty of choice when it comes to the hardcourt, including some of the best NBA betting sites on the market.

NCAA Basketball ๐Ÿ€

Maine's representation in the Division I men's basketball scene is sparse โ€“ as in, the Maine Black Bears are the only program in the state above Division III. And yet, there's little doubt that bettors from the Pine Tree State will flock in droves to their betting apps once the NCAA hoops season gets rolling โ€“ and in even greater numbers for March Madness, of course. Unfortunately, Maine state law somewhat limits in-state college sports betting.

MLB โšพ

Those summer months can be l-o-n-g โ€“ but only if you aren't a baseball fan. Maine residents who favor America's Pastime are blessed with hundreds of betting markets for every regular-season and playoff game across the Major League Baseball schedule โ€“ and with the emergence of micro-betting, you can even wager on the outcome of an individual pitch.

NHL ๐Ÿ’

Maine's NCAA hockey team has had plenty of success in the America East Conference over the years โ€“ and we like the chances of that puck passion spilling over into the sports betting sphere. NHL betting markets have never been this plentiful, with moneyline, puckline and O/U plays accompanied by an ever-growing selection of team and individual player props.

Golf โ›ณ

There's a lot to like about golf wagering, from the chance to hit a longshot outright play to betting on which players will make or miss the cut, or even if the tournament will feature a hole-in-one. Whether you're a casual observer or golf-obsessed, betting on events can make a good golf viewing experience great โ€“ and a great experience even greater.

Soccer โšฝ

Maine residents might have to dig a little deeper to find them on most U.S.-regulated sports betting apps, but the soccer markets are there. And once they do discover them, they'll be floored โ€“ not only at the number of leagues and competitions covered by most sportsbooks but by the sheer number of betting opportunities attached to the majority of notable matches.

Maine online and mobile sportsbooks

So far, only Caesars and DraftKings have launched in Maine. However, as the situation unfolds, we expect some of these other popular brands and potential Maine sports betting apps to make inroads into the state. Remember, there can be up to four online sportsbooks, and there are currently only two.

Responsible sports betting with Maine promos

As sports betting takes center stage in Maine, ensuring responsible play is paramount. Every Maine sportsbook must offer self-imposed deposit and betting limits, including various "time out" durations.

A portion of sports betting revenue also goes to fund problem gambling services. Several organizations are stepping up to provide resources and assistance for responsible gambling. Here's a snapshot of some key entities and what they bring to the table:

  • Maine Problem Gambling Services: A government-backed initiative, this service emphasizes prevention, intervention, and recovery concerning problem gambling. They offer a helpline, 2-1-1, for immediate assistance and provide resources and training to communities across Maine.
  • Maine Council on Problem Gambling: A dedicated nonprofit, this council collaborates with other organizations to combat problem gambling in Maine. They equip bettors with resources like webinars, in-person training, and self-exclusion tools.
